I eat here often as I really like this place and normally the service is great and the food is almost always good. This visit was not all that wonderful. The waitress did the absolute minimum, perhaps less than minimum, because she never came around to refill our drinks. Also wait staff usually ask if there us anything else we would like, she didn't and I was going to ask for a Turkish coffee but considering she only came back after giving us our drinks to give me the bill I figured it wasn't worth anyone's time to add something to the bill and maybe I would get my coffee quickly or maybe I wouldn't see her for another half hour. Maybe you are wondering why even rate it four stars and how did I get my food if I never saw her after the drinks and before the bill. You are astute and the answer to both would be because of the waiter who brought our food. He was great and when I asked for an extra side again (I already asked the waitress when I ordered the food) he brought it out quickly and enough to where I didn't have to ask for more. I hope they share tips because what I really wanted to do was just give him the tip and leave a comment in the tip section for the waitress but I didn't, I left a tip that she really didn't deserve.
Oh, what a "horrible person I am," you say "for even thinking about not tipping her, she was probably having a bad day and I should cut her some slack," well maybe I was having a bad day. "Perhaps she was just busy," you say. I don't know why I am even talking to you still, but the restaurant was barely busy, and she apparently had enough time to talk and joke with what I assumed where her friends a few tables over often enough. No, that tip was charity pure and simple because she did barely enough to justify her hourly rate.
update The past 5-10 time I have gone the service has been much better but still not excellent. At this point I just consider it the charm of the place.
update 2 This is one of my go to places now and the past 30 times I have gone the service has been anywhere from usually decent to very good, still not exceptional and one time the rice was cooked poorly but no place can be perfect everytime. Try the garlic dip with the bread.
Last update They changed the way things are cooked and not for the better. I was also charged $5 for dip that used to be free, and the chicken no longer comes with a garlic sauce. The pasha potatoes are not very good now, and the garlic hummus was pretty much low quality. On top of that I hate paying on their portable machine while the server stands next to you after they already put in a suggested tip, kinda tacky. I think it is time to part ways after over 12 years of...
Read moreI have been to this location many times for years. But that will no longer be the case after the experience I had today. I went to the restaurant to order food and take it back with me to work. When I was paying with my card, I followed the prompts on the screen and when I got asked if I wanted to leave a tip, I selected no because I was picking up my own food and not getting service from a server. I signed the screen and then the cashier asked me if I wanted my receipt, which I said no. I always get instant notifications on my phone when my card is swiped along with the exact total it was charged. When I got the notification, the total was over what I had signed by about $3. So I asked the cashier if she knew why this was the case, she immediately got defensive and hysterical. The manager was called and the employee started to defend herself in Spanish to the manager and said that I had accused her of taking money from me. I don’t think they knew that I speak fluent Spanish so I was able to hear the way the employee twisted the story for her benefit. The manager started to defend her employee saying that I was the one with the bad attitude and that the machine takes tips on its own even though the customer doesn’t agree on it. Both employees decided that arguing with me and making excuses was the best route to take instead of just simply fixing the issue. It’s not about the $3 for me, it’s about the simple principle that I did not agree to leave a tip for food that I picked up. Please if anyone goes here, make sure to always ask for your receipt. From what I can see, in this establishment the customer will not come first, they will argue with you for some reason. Horrible service! Also management, please fix your machine if that’s...

I brought my own beer, but I was told that there was a charge of $2.99 per person to drink outside alcohol since they don’t have any
The meal was mediocre at best
The owner came over afterwards and said how was everything and I said I was disappointed that I couldn’t have a beer with my meal
He said well it’s a state law that we have to charge and I’m sorry
I googled it, and there is no state law in Texas on charging for BYOB.
Google BYOB in Texas
“There are no statewide BYOB laws in Texas. Even though the term means “Bring Your Own Beverage,”
Charge Customers a Fee “If You Want” The traditional BYOB restaurant or establishment is one that allows customers to bring their own libations. In the traditional setting, customers bring, serve, and prepare their beverages themselves. Although this is common, there are ways to better accommodate your customers in a BYOB setting and even make money while doing so: You can sell “set ups” of cups, ice, soda and other mixers You can charge a fee for the customer to bring alcohol onto your premises. This is particularly common when a customer brings their own bottle of wine into a restaurant. The “corkage fee” to open a bottle of wine”
I had bottles of beer and my own bottle opener. Yet the manager wanted to charge us $2.99 per person
So the owner was lying to me, and that was disappointing
I won’t return based on the quality of the food and the lie that the...
