Update#13: 08/31/25 607 p.m. with enough pastries. Yes, finally!
Update#12: Aug 8, 2025. Get there before 4:00 p.m. otherwise your choices will be limited or there will be empty shelves. They have a good variety and keep introducing new flavors. However, check your drink orders. We ordered two iced coffees and got one of each. Fixed.
Update#11: Feb 11, 2025. Shelves half empty. 5:37 p.m! Pics below. Asked Ariel. They're done baking for today! Money spent elsewhere.
Update#10: Jan 22, 2025. Ariel twice now has messed up our orders. First, did not apply right discounts to a pastries/drink order and today did not secure drink cover and it spilled on my phone and pants. More training or new job?
Update#9: Dec 30, 2024. 717pm close at 8pm & no pastries only drinks? Owners 👎🤷♂️🤔 1 ⭐⬇️. Pics w/dates.
Update#8: Dec 6, 2024. Alot of customers with 1 person working the register. No one in the back baking anything and two people making drinks. Plenty of stock. Applied $5 coupon stacked with 10% military discount for cake $26.10 vs $34. 🙂
Update#7: Nov 4, 2024. NEW flavor coconut milk pudding taste like cassava. Well stocked. 5⭐ again. Came back for a 2d time in one day for more pastries and two more BOGOs. Service great and consistent.
Update#6: Nov 1, 2024. Go! Go! Go... BOGO iced/hot coffee for all of November within the app. Ordered drinks are made consistently so it must be measured and they're very good. Would put it up against any drink place (Starbucks, Dunkin, etc..). Again, well stocked with pastries and even a few new ones like the coconut pudding. Use your app + military discount.
Update#5: Sep 17, 2024. Around 2:00 p.m. shelves were fully stocked. They are doing a great job and hired more staff. Keep this formula and business will continue to flourish. Don't be like the one in Austin when by 4:00 p.m. pretty much out of stock and we've been there at least five different days. The one in Houston is okay. They have a great variety! See updated pics below.
Update#4: August 13, 2024. They're doing great keeping inventory in stock even at 3:30 p.m. Keep it up owners and you will continue to have great business as you did on this day. See pics below.
Update#3: July 10, 2024. Redemption! 1⭐⬆️. The shelves were full. They were baking a lot taking care of the customers at 1130am. Good job owner! Remember your BOGO sea salt caramel coffee if you have the app.
Update#2: July 1, 2024. One ⭐⤵️. Entered store and this is what we see and asked the person behind counter "Are you finished baking for the day"! She says, "Yes"! It's 4:37 p.m. they are open until 8:00 p.m. and the main purpose of their storefront is to sell pastries and they're already out? Setting a bad precedent. I guess they don't want to be successful but that's their decision but if you have a good product and people want your product why are you not putting it out on the shelves making more? Some people went yesterday and they were out of the milk pudding even before 12:00 p.m. Owner if you read this you need to make some serious changes and cater to your customers. See photos taken at 4:38 p.m. May I suggest figuring out when you get the most customers make more of the product but have enough until closing but not too much to where you have excess at the end of the night. To get something I guess customers have to come before 12:00 p.m.
Update#1: June 13, 2024. Came back and the line was long. Made sure they had the milk pudding which they did. Upon check out we didn't get our military discount (10% off) after looking at our receipts so they gave us a full refund and then recharged it with the military discount. We received a free sea salt caramel coffee just after two purchases. Pretty good deal! Better to get there early before they sell out of items because there was some pastries they didn't have on the shelves even at 11 a.m
This one is bigger than the Houston by Chinatown and the Austin off of North Lamar.
If you install the app a certain amount of purchases get you...
Read moreI received an unassumingly delicious treat from 85 degrees Bakery Cafe from a coworker. They mentioned having a variety bag of pastries: chocolate croissant, pineapple cakes, ham and cheese, brioche, butter wheel and items that they had already consumed cheese dog and milk pudding...and possibly others...i cannot remember everything. I usually don't partake in pastries unless it's worth it, but a coworker tried the pineapple cake and ended up taking two of the three, so I had to see what the excitement was about....and I am sure glad that I did. However, I couldn't decide between the chocolate croissant or the butter wreath. I ultimately ended up with the croissant. Another coworker chose the butter wreath and out of the kindness of her ❤️ shared a piece with me. It was everything that I expected it to be and more...buttery, moist and just downright scrumptious. But wait...when I eventually had my croissant a few hours later, it was as amazing as a croissant should be....it was flaky and buttery and soft and chocolatey and perfect..it was very, very good. I was only going to have a bit but ended up eating the whole thing. Later that day, I had the ultimate pleasure of trying a slice of the brioche....and I was in heaven from first inhale of the bread's yeasty goodness. The bread smelled amazing right out of the package....it was decadent and soft and pillowy and buttery and a little sweet...it was exactly the comfort that I didn't even know I needed. I even closed my eyes to savor the moment....and then I ate the whole thing. It needed nothing added! Unfortunately, I didn't capture this amazing experience through photo but it lives absolutely rent free in my memory. sigh I cannot wait to make my own trip to 85 degrees Bakery Cafe to experience all of their pastry treats and beverages. If you haven't heard of them, you should definitely check them out. Their pastries taste like someone genuinely loves what they do...like, you can taste the work and love that they've infused into each edible work of...
Read moreI've been a couple times and I'd say it's a cool place but definitely adjust your expectations.
What you should expect: Expect to take your food home or a park to eat and don't bother with the drinks. This is a good snack or dessert food place!
The food is good, if you like really soft bread (like a yeast roll) and fillings that are not too sweet, it's a great spot for that. Everything is already made and in clear baggies, so it's a little like going through a grocery store. Everything I've tried has been pretty good, but sometimes it's too greasy or strangely sweet(like meat with a lot of sugary cream cheese) however each item is $2-$4 so it isn't a big risk to try something different.
The drinks are great except when you can't get them. There's nowhere to wait for your drink so everyone just stands around in the way and they call out your number but it seems to be random intervals and people who went after you will get their drink before you. Unfortunately I was just there and there was some issues with the drink orders so I just didn't get mine. Obviously this was pretty annoying, sucks paying for something you don't get. But the first time I went it was still a 10 minute wait for 2 drinks, so I think maybe they have some problems there already. This place is really about the food anyway, so I suggest just not getting a drink at all.
Atmosphere is like a grocery store with maybe 9 tables that don't get cleaned and often aren't available (like the Costco deli). The bathrooms have numbered locks, which is odd, but they'll give you the code at the register. The bathrooms aren't clean either, but at least they have two.
I hate to be negative, I'm not saying to avoid this place, I'd just be sure to be patient with the lines and really, don't even bother treating it like a restaurant and think of it like a meat market or something, where you don't necessarily eat there if you have a...
