My family and I ate here while on our vacation. It exceeded our expectations of the service and food. The amount of food we received was a substantial amount and very fulfilling. We ordered shrimp tandoori, chicken tandoori, samosas beef & veggie, shrimp malai, chicken masala, garlic naan, aloo naan & chicken tikka masala. I highly recommend this place. I’m only sad that they do not have a location back home to visit. While we do have many other restaurants similar, I love to stick with what I fall in love with. The Indian Night set the bar high for when I get back home. I hope to be able to come back and visit again and they be open and thriving still, inshallah.
Edit: Returned for our anniversary this weekend 2/15/2025, and we were so disappointed. We paid $60 for two orders of veggie samosas (4 total) which was given to us in a glass bowl but given paper bowls to eat it out of, the paper bowls were the type you get at a gas station with your wings in it. Fine, we decided to not think anything of it and proceeded to eat the samosas with the sauce bottle he grabbed from the table across from us after the family left, and placed it on our table. Ok. As we were about to have the last samosa I finally told my spouse I don’t think he is going to bring our water, so he got up and asked for 2 bottle waters. Fine. We ordered the garlic naan with chicken tandoori that comes with rice the man taking our order said. When he brings out the chicken it was shockingly 6 small pieces (not over exaggerating the size of wing stop boneless wings) I asked my spouse what kind of portion chicken were they so we figured out it was 3 legs and 3 thighs. That meal actually came with glass plates to serve our portions on. The basket of naan had two pieces cut in fours. As we decided to get our pieces of chicken, I looked up and the man sat back down behind the counter and started eating his food, I asked my spouse I thought this meal came with rice? My spouse said it did, the waiter confirmed that when we asked so we knew if we had to order it separately. The man never came with the rice. I told my spouse don’t worry about I’ll just try to enjoy the chicken with naan so that it didn’t kill the mood of our anniversary. Little did I know when my spouse got up to pay that it was $60 for 4 veggie samosas, 2 bottle waters and 6 small pieces of chicken with garlic naan. We will not be...
Read moreIndian Night, an eatery nestled in San Antonio, ostensibly promises a culinary voyage to the vibrant flavors of India. However, this promise falls short in execution. The ambiance first greets you with a lackluster welcome, marred by a noticeable deficit in cleanliness, a crucial misstep in hospitality.
The menu, though ostensibly diverse, immediately disappoints with its unavailability of listed items - a culinary letdown for eager palates. The Paneer Makhni, a dish usually resplendent with creamy, tomato-based richness, here presents itself as a pallid shadow of its counterparts in other establishments, lacking both depth and the quintessential zest that defines Indian cuisine.
Further, the Bhindi Masala, which should dance with a harmony of spices and okra's natural charm, instead arrives as an underwhelming, desiccated offering, devoid of the vibrancy one anticipates in this classic dish.
A peculiar episode with their Chai encapsulates the overall experience. Initially denied, then provided, this beverage, often the comforting epilogue to an Indian meal, was strikingly distant from the aromatic Masala Chai one yearns for. It lacked the symphony of spices and the robust tea flavor that characterizes this beloved drink.
While the service was passable, it hardly compensates for the culinary disappointments. In a city like San Antonio, where the gastronomic bar is set high, Indian Night's offerings are conspicuously subpar. Their fare, bereft of the authentic, soul-nourishing essence of Indian cuisine, leaves much to be desired.
In conclusion, for those seeking the rich tapestry of flavors that Indian cuisine so beautifully weaves, Indian Night stands as a reminder that not all journeys to flavor are triumphant. Its underwhelming dishes, coupled with a lack of attention to ambiance, place it far from recommendation. For the discerning palate, this establishment is a missed mark in the vast culinary landscape of...
Read moreOrdered chicken biryani which has been very good the past times I've ordered however this time chicken was super dry and chewy. Did not have almonds or raisin as described when I called to inform them that maybe I got the wrong order because my dish didn't have ingredients it's supposed to come with. The lady who answered said they just weren't giving almonds and raisins to anyone , didn't say why just that they weren't. ** Update 1/11/24 Decided to give them another try and unfortunately this time was worse. I ordered chicken tikka masala, first they gave me what looked to be a soup. I went back and the man that was there said he would remake it. When they remade it, it looked a little thicker but when I got to my office the taste was horrible! Sauce was not creamy and tasted like tomato sauce. Thicken was dry.And the portions are smaller that the other times i had ordered this same dish. I asked for a refund and was told the manager was not in but when he returned he would refund me. I paid $21. 63 for a small portion chicken tikka masala and a plain naan bread. I have to say when they first opened up the food was amazing however that has declined...
