Biggie's Burgers — Restaurant in San Clemente

I will leave me original review below but I feel I have to give an update. Being from out of town I generally stop by to pick up lunch or dinner 4-6 times a week. The staff has always been amazing until recent. First let me say that I am super aware of how COVID has affect the smaller restaurants so on a $13 dollar check for my food I always leave a minimum of a $5 tip. Three days this week I left a $10 tip. With that being said earlier in the week I placed an order and a lady answered and while she was taking my order she was laughing hysterically to the point that I had to start over twice. I could hear her talking with others so I figured that she was just a young employee and they were having a little fun. Today I called in to place a order and the same lady answered and asked me to hold which I did for 13 minutes. By the time she came back on I was pulling into the parking lot. I thought I would go ahead and order and sit in the parking lot and listen to music while they prepared my food. Where I parked I could see into the store and when she started taking my order the same thing happed that had happened the last time that she took my order. She began laughing and pulling the phone away. As I began to start my order over again I got out of my vehicle to walk in to finish my order because they were not busy. That’s when I saw that though the window that she was holding the phone out for the staff to hear me starting the order over again and she was laughing. I am from the south and have a bit of a southern accent and she was making fun of me. When I saw what was going on I turned and went back to my vehicle and left. I was still on the phone and I told her that I was there in the parking lot and had just witnessed what was going on. She said that they had customers and that’s why I was on hold so long. She tried to turn it around like I was upset because I had wait before ordering But, she was not aware that I had arrived and saw what was going on. She did have someone ordering but instead of taking the order of who was standing there and then taking the phone order before taking the next guest in lines order she had me on hold until the line was completely clear so she could hold the phone up so she could have me repeating my order over and over to get a laugh at my accent. She offered to compensate my meal because I was a good customer. I don’t need my meal compensated. I just enjoyed the food and atmosphere. And no one likes being made fun of especially in a business that you frequent. The rest of the staff that I have deal with seemed great. Makes me sad anyway. As a patron I have always been very polite and have never left without tipping as a way to show my appreciation. I liked it there. Any suggestions on a different burger place in town?

I have traveled for over 30 years. First touring as a musician then for work. I have to say that this is one of the best little burger shops in San Clemente. I read some comments complaining about wait times. You gotta remember that their food is cook to order fresh so it is not sitting around in a warmer waiting for someone to order. Always hot and fresh. Bottom line it’s a good burger, friendly staff and great sides. It reminds me of the old school burger joints....

This place is trash. Rude customer service. Lady in the front acts like you are doing her a dis-service by ordering food…at 2 PM when literally no other customers are in line. Had to wait 5 minutes before I was even approached. Asked what flavor shakes they had and was told to look at the picture on the window. Good god. Ordered a chili dog which on the website says that it comes with cheese on it. Literally look at the menu and that is what it says. Got the chili dog back to the house and there was no sign of cheese on top. Called the location back and asked if it was supposed to have cheese and was told (presumably by the same bitter cashier lady) “it’s a chili dog, not a chili cheese dog”. She interrupted me numerous times when I told her that was inconsistent with the website info. Fact check time - called the Pacific Beach location and asked if the chili dog comes with cheese. Bingo, was told right off the bat it does and it is not an “add-on” cost like the lady at the San Clemente location said it was. The food was edible at best - the Oreo shake I got was pretty flavorless and for a piece of bread, a regular size hot dog, and a can of chili dumped on top, $13 could be put to use much better almost anywhere else in town. I came here the other night because nothing else was opened and it was barely 9 PM so I looked up things close to me that were open and had good reviews. I'm glad I came here. First off the shakes were SO good and they really do use real ice cream and it was blended so perfectly, in n out need some pointers from this place because I can never drink my shake until it's like half melted. I got the chili dog and added cheese, my sister got the veggie burger and her boyfriend got the regular burger. We all shared fries and onion rings. Everything was so good, we couldn't even finish our food. Not one of us finished our whole burger or hot dog and we still had most of the fries and onion rings leftover. My stomach was not messed up either after eating all that fried food and chili.
