We stayed here twice. Our first time was for just one night as we had an early flight out the next day. We enjoyed our stay. The pool was a hit and the restaurant on site served decent enough food with really great margaritas.
Our second time around was for three nights and this was our takeaway:
-The price per night is excellent considering the location and the cost of other comparable hotels in the area. We paid $175 per night for a two queen bed room with a sofa bed. BW really could charge more and people would likely pay, but I cant say if they’d have the volume they have. The beds were really comfortable. We slept great!
-The location cannot be beat. 10 min from the airport and in the middle of historic Old Town. There’s a main street with lots of shops, restaurants, a Cold Stone for ice cream, and the historic Whaley House and other fun things to do.
-The pool and hot tub are a big hit, making it great for families. We can spend a whole day there.
-The restaurant on site opens at 6am for a decently priced breakfast buffet. 12.95 for adults, 9.95 for kids. They had bacon, french toast, eggs, fresh fruit, oatmeal, muffins, chilaquiles and beans. The card machine was down when we were there, so it was cash or room charge only but wasnt a big deal. We has dinner there too and the tortillas were the best I’ve had.
-There is plenty of street parking, but this was during the week, so I cant be sure about the weekend. Make sure you turn your wheels toward the curb accordingly per Driver’s ED 101. We forgot and received a $91 ticket.
The downfalls:
-SO MANY STAIRS! There are several buildings that make up the grounds and some of them do not have elevators. Building 500 above the pool was offered but with 5 of us, three kids, and several bags, having to bag drag up 3 flights wasnt gonna happen. We stayed in building 600, but going back and forth to the pool required going up and down 60+ steps each time. This is not the place to be if you aren’t able to manage stairs well.
-The rooms are really outdated and in desperate need of renovations. Everything is old.
No adjoining rooms are available. We had two rooms and our eldest kids were next door, safely with 24 hour access to us, but having adjoining rooms would have been best. Having 5 of us in a room is doable, but not ideal.
-The one parking garage is always full so if you prefer to pay $25 a night for the garage because street parking is full too, you are unlikely to have many options.
-Their key card machine is wonky. The keys didnt work for one of our rooms and several times during our stay, the keys that did work just stopped doing so even though we followed instructions so as not to demagnetize them. We went to the front desk 4 times our first day alone just to get the keys re-programmed. See the so many stairs comnent. After all the up and down, our legs were killing us.
There arent many options for food beyond Tex Mex, so if you do not like that, you’ll be out of luck. There is one local Italian place. Everything else is all about the Tex Mex cuisine. On day two, I was already not interested in tacos,...
Read moreI really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Unlike other hotels, this location has rooms that open into a plaza where individuals can gather and enjoy the weather and views of Old Town. The restaurant is conveniently located near the rooms with affordable offerings and views of Old Town. This hotel provides a quieter opportunity than hotels downtown. It neighbors the Mormon Battalion museum, a interesting historical location. A great place to sit back and relax while...
Read moreIt was alright. All I can say is that the hotel was accommodating, a hair dryer, shampoo, body wash, and conditioner in the bathroom. The views to the ocean from balconies were stunning. I enjoyed walking around in the evening with my boyfriend. It was a very peaceful end to a wonderful day...
