I recently had the opportunity to dine at Mr. Ruribertos Méxicn Food and while there were certain aspects I enjoyed, there were also a few areas that left me wanting more. Here's my honest review of the experience:
Let's start with the positives. One thing that immediately caught my attention was the generous portion sizes. The amount of food you receive for the price is definitely commendable. If you have a big appetite or enjoy sharing meals, you won't be disappointed in that regard.
The variety of salsa options is worth mentioning as well. The flavors were diverse and added an extra kick to the dishes. I appreciated the opportunity to try different salsas to complement my meal.
However, there were a couple of aspects that left me slightly disappointed. Firstly, the prices for adding toppings to my burrito seemed quite steep. Being charged $1.40 per side for beans and sour cream felt excessive, especially considering the overall cost of the meal. It would be great if the prices for additional toppings were more reasonable to enhance the value for customers.
Another notable downside was the absence of a restroom for customers. It's inconvenient not to have a restroom available on the premises, especially when dining in. This aspect could potentially be improved to provide a better overall experience for customers.
Additionally, I found it unusual that the kitchen staff was also responsible for taking out the trash. While this might not directly impact the quality of the food, it does create an impression that the establishment lacks proper division of labor. It would be preferable to have dedicated staff members for kitchen and janitorial tasks to maintain a higher level of hygiene and professionalism.
On the payment front, it's worth noting that Mr. Ruribertos Méxicn Food accepts both cash and credit, which is convenient for customers who prefer different payment methods.
The interior space of the restaurant is small, but they do offer outdoor seating, which is a nice option for those who prefer to dine outside or when the weather is pleasant.
Lastly, the flour tortillas at Mr. Ruribertos Méxicn Food were pretty authentic-tasting, adding an authentic touch to the overall dining experience. However, it's important to mention that they only serve soft drinks, so if you're looking for other beverage options, you might be...
Read moreA solid 4 stars. If you are a tourist, this is your place to get an authentic California burrito. Not the best California burrito, but it's authentic which is more than a lot of places can say. If you're coming from anywhere but so cal, your California burritos are garbage. You can't just make a burrito with California grown avocados and vegetables and call it a Cali burrito.. that's wrong and weird. A California burrito is at minimum carne asada with potato. The real California burrito includes French fries , rather than just plain old potato. This makes a difference. That being said, if you order a Cali burrito here you're getting a good sized taste of California. Plenty of carne asada and potato, wrapped up tight in an oversized tortilla. And it comes quick too. These guys have the fastest hands in the west. If you are a tourist, stop here. If you are a local, you're not...
Read moreMr. Ruriberto's was packed when I was there. (I read the reviews and I am not sure they accurately reflect M R). This small restaurant is very, very popular; the location is one of the busiest in the San Diego's Beach areas (directly across from Belmont Amusement Park in Mission Beach). How can a packed restaurant have a 3.8 rating (another restaurant, just steps away was almost empty... that tells me something).
M R is one block from the fun and very popular Mission Beach. Mission Bay Park is diagonally across Mission Bay Drive (worth visiting and the bay boardwalk that goes through the park is miles of cool).
Lots of cool places to visit nearby after dining..
Note: Sorry to report that Mission Beach had a problem with bike theft so please take precautions (a lot of San Diego has this problem. I joke about the bike theives living in cool condos almost the Boardwalk......
