From the moment we walked in, Galpão Gaucho set the tone for an exceptional dining experience. The ambiance was fantastic—elegant, spotless, and inviting. The staff was outstanding, making us feel welcome and guiding us through the experience with genuine enthusiasm. A special shoutout to Guillermo for inviting us and ensuring our first visit was unforgettable.
The selection of meats was absolutely glorious. The picanha—offered in classic, spicy, and garlic-crusted varieties—was next-level delicious. The lamb chops were cooked to perfection, the shrimp was fresh and flavorful, and the chicken wrapped in bacon was a must-try. And then there was the golden steak, expertly sliced atop a block of Himalayan salt and seared tableside—both unnecessary and entirely necessary at the same time.
The salad bar was equally impressive, with an array of fresh and vibrant options that provided the perfect complement to the meats. I found myself returning for mushrooms, cheeses, olives, and vegetables as a refreshing palate cleanser between courses. And let’s not forget the grilled pineapple—sweet, caramelized perfection that was completely addicting.
The service was exceptional throughout the night. The waitstaff was attentive, refilling drinks promptly and continuously circulating with a variety of mouthwatering meats. It’s rare to find a restaurant that delivers on every front, but Galpão Gaucho did just that.
If you’re looking for an outstanding Brazilian steakhouse, this is it. Every bite was phenomenal, every detail was thoughtful, and the entire experience was unforgettable....
Read moreI can say that out of all the Brazilian steakhouses in San Diego, Galpao Gaucho is my favorite one in terms of overall meat quality and service.
Ambiance: They have lots of seats inside, a large patio with heaters, and I also noticed 2 rooms for private parties/events. We came with 7 people and I’d say they accommodate big groups well, just make reservations ahead of time.
Service: They have lots of employees so service is top notch. You never have to wait for meats to be served. I appreciate how prompt they are, though some people might feel rushed from the constant serving. I do wish though that they pay attention to the green/red cards more. In the most recent time I went with a big group, most of us had red cards though the servers kept going around to each of us. I appreciated that our main server was attentive and asked us what meats we specifically looked for so we weren’t waiting around.
Meats: My favorite was the Spicy Picanha with its fat caps and great flavor. I was surprised that the golden steak was part of the main price. They advertised it us being the only steakhouse that has 24 karat gold covered Picanha. I’d say most of their meats were cooked well. I loved that salmon and shrimp were also part of their menu.
Other Foods: The cheese bread and the plantains served from the get go are so delicious. The cheese with honey and pineapple are some of my favorites and cleansed the palate between all the meats. Their salad bar is alright to me.
Overall: I’ll come back to Galpao...
Read moreHad the pleasure to visit Galpão Gaucho for dinner a couple times now. Each visit was a great experience. The meats came out consistently and were cooked to different levels, which was helpful depending on your preference. Picanha was the standout, but the lamb chops, garlic beef, and bacon-wrapped chicken were all solid. Everything was hot, seasoned to perfection, and served quickly.
The salad bar was more than just greens, it had charcuterie, hearts of palm, beets, cheeses, and a few hot items like the chicken soup really stood out. It’s easy to fill up on it, but the real value is in the premium cuts. Sides like fried polenta, mashed potatoes, and caramelized bananas were served at the table and rotated often.
Service was fast and organized. Staff explained how the red/green card system worked and kept drinks and sides coming without needing reminders. Everyone was professional and kept things moving smoothly.
The space is clean, open, and works well for both small groups and larger parties. It was a little loud during peak dinner hours but manageable. Expect to pay around $70–80 per person for dinner, not including drinks. It’s not cheap, but for the amount and quality of food, it’s fair. Lunch is more affordable and still includes most of the meats.
Recommend to call ahead on busy nights, but also ask about if they'll validate your parking depending on where you're...
