I had this at 5 stars but in fairness I had to move it down a notch to 4 stars because the banmi wasn't what I expected. Anyway, was looking for a lunch spot near my hotel and came across Pho Xpress. A nice find. Service was super fast. The pho was outstanding. I had the rare steak with brisket and it was amazing. The fresh condiments were outstanding. Also, the Vietnamese Espresso caught my attention and it too was well prepared and hit the spot. The only down-fall was the beef sandwich (banmi). Usually Vietnamese spots are known for their crunchy bread and fresh toppings. My sandwich lacked the crunch and while overall acceptable, my expectations for a good banmi was not met.

A hidden gem. After living in Seattle and San Francisco, I thought I would never find authentic pho down in Southern California. Alas, I found one A full restaurant that has cured my feelings of nostalgia something that has been long overdue. The temperature of the soup, Quality of the meat vegetables and the overall selection very very well done. There isn’t Full table service, but after you order at the counter, they bring the food to your table, and then bring you other things upon your request. They do pay attention to you but aren’t overkill with their service either. I’m making this my new favorite favorite pho restaurant in San Diego. Quick and easy!

I stumbled upon a charming family-owned pho restaurant nestled in the Gaslamp district of San Diego. The pho, which is the highlight, was absolutely scrumptious. The broth was a delightful mix of lightness and rich flavors. It was so good that when the server came to clear my table, I had to hold onto my bowl just to savor the last of the broth. I was tempted to rate it five stars, but the Banh Mi didn't quite hit the mark. While it included the usual pickled daikon and carrots, it somehow missed that tangy punch I was looking forward to. Still a must visit if you are in the area and craving Vietnamese food.

Ok. This is my feel good place when i am sick or feel sad or just want a good pho. I like to good home an put it all together in my favorite Bowl for pho an sit an watch tv. I love how they always think of the customer but hey if the owner ask no dogs inside pls respect that because some people don't like animals around when they eat but you can ask if you can sit near the door an see if they will let you. I personally don't like dogs in the restaurant it makes feel like it isn't clean. Trust me , i know dogs are cleaner sometimes then people it was how i was raise on the farm. No dogs or cats at the table but would i do it at home oh yeah because that is my house an no one tells what to do there but me. So with that said the pho is always good i call it in an pick up an go home to enjoy. Yes, I have sat down an ate an it was very nice an peacefully there that when i left i was calmer than when i when in, hey we all have bad days but that day i left with a full stomach an a smile . yes there is other wonderful items to eat like chicken sandwich an...

!8, big San Diego Foodie I GO TO PHO XPRESS MAYBE ONCE A WEEK, AT LEAST!! I always get the number 21 pho, chicken wings, and eggrolls I always finish my food Food is amazing, warm and cozy like home. Extremely comforting setting. Cutest elderly man works, and I’m pretty sure owns the place; I love him, I tell people all the time. I’ve brought friends over, many have never had pho before; but they loved everything, and have been going ever since, EVEN WITHOUT ME!

Ps: Even their take out is high quality still

Please keep in mind though that I eat more than an average person, so I do spend more, of course. Obviously. But the place is still super affordable for downtown, I'm literally an unemployed college student.

I've been here 10+ times, since September, it's not February

One thing to keep in mind though, 4% charge when you pay with card. A lot of little shops do that though, but that's how you know!!!! It's SUPER authentic. This place is my home, when I'm at school.

If you become a regular, they're so humbled to be...
