Baymout “Motel” not hotel.
My review is genuine and detailed for possible future guest. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PLACE
June 8th. 2020 I made my reservations with Travelocity and of course PAID upfront and in full. The apps and website photos of this motel is a façade! Start Rating maybe 1/2 star!! The clientele at motel wasn’t very... let’s say pleasant. Once I pulled up i already knew this wasn’t my normal Hotel experience. I was extremely exhausted from a long drive. At check in the front desk guy didn’t know what he was doing. He asked to put a $100 deposit on my credit card. I said yes. He actually authorized $200 plus a $26 for something I wasn’t aware. Additionally they changed my credit card for $93.33 the next day. “remember I already paid for my room” When I saw the charge on my banks app I immediately responded.
DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PLACE
My bank app displayed a RedRoof Inn, different address & the phone number was to a Toy store. Nothing was matching up. When I called the Baymount Motel, once again the front desk guy didn’t know anything or how to handle my situation. He also told me the manager would be back in a hour and he would call me back. Two days later I called back because the manager never called back. I asked to speak to the manager. He said I am the manager. Oh really I said! Why haven’t you call me back ? His response was... I was off the few days. “ remember 1st. call I made I was told he would be back in a hour “ 🤔 I asked about the charges and was told some BS. “ they Authorize credit card for the room rate plus parking, regardless if you book/paid in advance with other websites” With an attitude and extremely unprofessional toward me. EVERYTHING I WAS TOLD WERE LIES AND HE TRIED COVERING UP. The manager said they charges would just fall off. Which the $93.33 never did.
NOW I am very frustrated and feel taking advantage of. Plus lied to, treated unprofessionally by someone who is in charge of valuable information. I called again, but with an Agitated attitude. Demanding the manager to call me back by the end of the day. Surprisingly he actually did. Still having the unprofessional demeanor. Talking to me if this was all my fault. He told me another BS story. He agreed to refund my money. I dropped it at that DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PLACE
Recap here; Renting a room from this low budget Motel will consist of. (Minimum hold of $450.00) This place is far from withholding that kind of amount on any credit/debit card. “Five Star Resorts” don’t even do that!!!
Check it out. I am very confident if you don’t follow through and stay on top of a situation like this. They will KEEP your money. Please report any kind of fraudulent activity or withholding from this place. Start with your finance institution. Additional to that, contact the Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Inc. They oversee this Franchise.

Read moreThis hotel was the absolute worst stay I have had. If I could give 0 stars I would. When I checked in there were no towels set in the bathroom which I only realized on the tail end of my shower (yes, it's on me a bit for not checking). But it got worse; the wifi is atrocious and unusable, I have had to turn off wifi to do anything just from my phone. When I went to bed the first night I found bedbugs in the bed and when I told the front desk I was told they had no rooms to move me to. Shortly after I was told at my door that they would move me to another room that was a double queen bed room . This was fine except for the fact that they did not change the bill to reflect the downgrade in room. In this new room the device to switch from the bath faucet to the shower head was stuck shut and I had to struggle to change it. Also the alarm clock had no power cord, the phone seems to be non functional, and the office chair in this new room had holes and tears in the cussioning. Key card did not work for the breakfast room and the breakfast was quite frankly lacking in all areas, even so much as there being no actual hot water available. To the hotels credit, when I returned from grabbing a morning coffee I did see their maintenance staff removing the bed from the room I had been in originally, and upon calling their front desk after the stay they did refund me the entire cost of one night's stay. Normally I refrain from writing reviews as I can understand a few hiccups in service here and there but the terrible quality of this stay has pushed me to this. I understand that this hotel is located in the heart of downtown and close to many great parts of the city but that does not excuse this hotels shabby quality. At $106+ tax per night this hotel is a rip off. While it may seem like some of these complaints are minor, when they are added together and considered with the bedbug incident in mind the overall experience has been the worst of any hotel I have ever been in. I would never stay here again, and I would never let another person pay the outrageous price for such a subpar experience. Edit: after looking at other reviews I see that 3 weeks ago someone posted in a review that room 122 (my original room) had bed bugs. So not despite giving them credit earlier about changing out the bed I am skeptical on whether they actually changed the bed or were simply giving the appearance of fixing the problem. DO NOT LET THEM PUT YOU IN ROOM 122 UNLESS YOU CAN BE ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN THAT THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN...
Read moreThe only good thing about this hotel is the location. It is near the Port of San Diego where we often sail out of.
*Do not stay at the Baymont by Wyndham San Diego Downtown or any other Wyndham Hotel! They do not care about your safety.
When we tried to plug in to the outlet next to the bed it sparked! Then we noticed the other outlet on the set was melted! There was obviously a short in the outlet and it was unsafe.
We then noticed the metal plate that should be on the doorframe to keep people from forcing the door open was missing! we noticed they were doing some maintenance, repainting the floor above our so we were only a little bothered by the state of the wallpaper and paint you will see in the attached picture. We were more concerned about the door not being secure.
When we tried to call the front desk using the phone provided in the hotel room. Instead of getting the front desk of the Baymont we got the voicemail of the Red Roof Inn! After several attempts we used our cell phone to call the regular number for the hotel. We were curtly informed that the hotel had been the Red Roof Inn 6 years ago and sometimes the phone lines mess up.
When we informed them about the outlet and door their response was, "We will fix it when you leave." They did not move us to another room. We had no other place to go and our allotted funds were tied up in this hotel. And it was only for one night and we thought we could deal with it in the morning.
We have been trying to get in touch with the GM of the hotel for 2 weeks. We have called at various times of the day and left messages. We still have not gotten in touch with them!
We called Wyndham Corporate and they told us it was our fault and there would be no offer of refund or help. They went on to say a guest has 15 minutes after checking in to thoroughly check the room and complain. Be aware if you complain after 15 minutes they feel they have no responsibility.
We were also informed that they do not have to have a working in room phone and it is not industry standard. "Guests bring their cell phone and should use that to call the front desk if there is a problem." According to a 2020 FCC Kari Law hotels are REQUIRED to have a working phone so a guest can call 911 and the...
