The star of the show is undoubtedly the ramen itself. Nagi Ramen offers a variety of broths that cater to different palates, each one meticulously crafted to perfection. The Tonkotsu King, with its rich and creamy pork broth, is a sublime delight, offering a depth of flavor that is both hearty and comforting. The noodles are cooked to an ideal al dente texture, providing the perfect bite and soak up the broth beautifully. The chashu pork is tender and flavorful, melting in your mouth with each bite.
Beyond the classic options, Nagi Ramen's innovative spirit shines with unique variations such as the Red King, which features a spicy kick that will tantalize your taste buds without overpowering the delicate balance of flavors. The Black King, with its infusion of black garlic and squid ink, offers a bold and aromatic experience that is both surprising and deeply satisfying.
Complementing the stellar ramen are a variety of side dishes that are equally impressive. The crispy, savory gyoza are a must-try, with a perfect blend of fillings wrapped in a delightfully crunchy shell. The atmosphere is enhanced by the friendly and attentive staff, who are always eager to offer recommendations and ensure that your dining experience is nothing short of exceptional.

Read moreRamen Nagi is a popular shop in the Westfield Mall of UTC. Nestled between Raised by Wolves and the future Van Leeuwen, it's a small but mighty force to be reckoned with.
I'm a tonkotsu purist, but on this particular day I was craving something new. I was recommended to try the black king, which has a blackened garlic and squid ink broth with minced pork, black sesame, and nagi spices.
Like a traditional shop in Japan, you have a diy sheet where you can modify your ramen to your liking. I wanted to try the thin noodles and I very much appreciated the EXTRA HEAVY garlic option. I wish the egg wasn't an extra charge because it definitely adds to the overall cost of the bowl, but you can't NOT have an egg with your ramen! The flavor itself was delightful and though some might think I had too much garlic, I felt it was just the right amount for me. They do have additional condiments on the table for your liking, but I felt it wasn't necessary.
Aside from that, I was able to try my friends' green king and original king. The green king was such a unique broth flavor that I enjoyed but I felt that the tonkotsu broth was not as creamy as I typically like it to be (for reference, hironori has my favorite broth.) Still, I could tell they put a lot of effort into their dishes and I would recommend it.
Here's what I didn't like about the place: no reservations or virtual waitlist... you have to physically line up to be seated which is quite frustrating tables are small (I get this is to squeeze more people in but I do like having a bit more space) the pitchers of water are tiny and full of so much ice! The cups are also tiny and I feel like you have to keep refilling it so many times the server got my order wrong? I understand mistakes happen, but when you’re collecting the order sheets from the table, it's a little odd when there was very little effort needed to ensure they were all correct I overheard a busser saying that they ran out of bowls? At lunch time? How does this happen?
Overall, I felt that this was still a strong contender and one I'd gladly visit again. It's just shy of a five star rating given the aforementioned, but if you're okay with these minor inconveniences, it's worth the...
Read moreI delayed in giving my full review because I wasn’t sure if the opinion I had at the time was based on the novelty of a new restaurant opening up in the UTC or if the food was actually good. I’ve made repeat visits and I can attest that the food quality has not diminished since its first month at the mall.
A recommendation for those new to the restaurant - if you eat meat, then I would recommend getting the original King with chef’s recommendations. Although the restaurant offers a few variety of options for ramen, the quality of each dish makes all the difference. I find myself coming back to try out new combinations and new tweaks until I find the ramen dish that suits my taste buds. This is definitely for those who are new to tonkatsu ramen and are okay with trying out new things.
The servers and crew have really refined their positions and offer wonderful service. Whether I come during the peak of rush hour or during their down time, the servers always make sure that I was not forgotten which was important for me during my solo visits here. I also notice their focus on other customers too such as providing accommodations where they can and offering opinions on dishes when prompted. Even during their stressful shifts, they offer the best service they can for others.
The atmosphere breathes easily. Modeled after some ramen stands in Japan, they offer open air seating outside and tables within doors. A place that I am often escorted is the bar area for individual guests or pairs. Although in other restaurants I would loathe the bar area, I find myself feeling at ease when at Ramen Nagi. It not only gives me the space to focus solely on the food, but I have my few interactions with guests who also came alone. There are no doors here, only curtains which allows the breeze to flow through the restaurant and prevents stuffiness.
Like I mentioned, I find myself a repeat guest at Ramen Nagi. Whether the line is wrapping around the koi pond or it is short, whether it is a hot summer day or a rainy November night, I find myself gravitating towards Ramen Nagi. I would highly recommend those in the area to stop by and...
