WOW oh WOW- this is my favorite juice bar I have EVER been to. My friends and I were staying at an AirBNB on Mission Beach and we were looking to grab our first cup of coffee the morning after we arrived. After a quick search on Yelp/Google, we settled on the Funky Lemon. The decor was enough to make me smile, but the menu was also fantastic! We tried a few of the juices, iced coconut latte (divine) and the avocado toast, and by the end of the meal we were ready to take on the day. We loved it so much that our group of 5 people went to the Funky Lemon EVERY SINGLE DAY of our trip (4 times in total!) because the food, ambiance, and the service was so wonderful. There is a sign up that the Funky Lemon is minority and female owned (which we love!), and on the second day we actually met the owner, Mariela! She was so kind and we loved chatting with her each day. She helps out her team in the front of house, back of house, and also talks with the guests- and she is a ray of sunshine! If you see her, definitely say hello! All of the juices are fresh pressed, which is very hard to find these days in the world of pre-packaged bottled juice. The turkey cobb sandwich is also INCREDIBLE- I got that every day as well! The bread is soft and fresh, avocados perfectly ripe-the perfect California sandwich! Loved the strawberry lemonade and the Funky Mix juice, but everything on the menu was great as we worked our way through nearly all of it, haha. Our trip to San Diego would not have been as great without finding the Funky Lemon and we will definitely be back on our next trip!

The setting was amazing, beautiful Sunday morning in San Diego on Mission Beach, sun poking through the clouds. There was a rumble in my tummy and I knew I needed sustenance but wanted something more local and healthy. Luckily I stumbled into the funky lemon and what a great stumble it was! I had one of their spirulina/fruit/açaí bowls and my new favorite iced caffeine beverage the iced horchata latte or as I like to call it the iced horchatte! The food and coffee was amazing, the manager/owner, whom you could tell has such a wonderful soul was so welcoming, I felt like I was coming home and having brekkie with my parents ! If I could give 6 stars I would My only wish is this place could be kept secret but given how good the food was the scenery and the friendliness of the staff, this place is gonna blow up! Such a fantastic experience, left me warm and tingly all day!

We stopped by here during our visit to Mission Beach, and it was easily one of my favorite food stops of the trip. Super chill vibe. Amazing, friendly staff. Delicious food. We got the Mio Caro Caro, horchata latte with oat milk, and the Pink Promise Bliss Bowl, and everything was so good. The baguette in the Mio Caro Caro was perfectly toasted in that it was crispy on the outside but still soft enough that it didn't stab at your both or shift the fillings with each bite. The horchata latte was nicely balanced and came out at a great hot temperature that wasn't scalding. And the Pink Promise had a great balance of ingredients without being too sweet. Overall, would definitely recommend d this place and will absolutely come back when back in town.

I gave them 4 stars because I didn’t wanna ruin their nice score, but I was very frustrated to wait over 30 minutes for a sandwich, Its not okay. I placed the order at 9:13 and got it at 9:47, not everyone in mission beach is on vacation and I cannot afford to wait this long for sandwich in the morning as I have work to get back to. (Maybe hire more kitchen stuff to speed things out if needed?). Another note - I appreciate the friendly banter at the register, but an excessive one prolongs the wait time to place the order, there is no need to get the life story of every person in the line or maybe chat more when it’s not rush hour. The sandwich was fresh and delicious and I would definitely come back for the food if it wasn’t for glacier...
