I enjoyed it. It is informative, doesn't take long to get through (30 minutes-ish; could probably do it in 5 if you don't read the signs; could easily stretch it to take an hour). Lots of homeless people nearby when it started to get dark. Many of the signs need refreshment or total replacement. I think the city should invest money and totally update the garden with new signs and make the paths more clear (there were some signs for trees in areas that I thought weren't walkable, but the placement of a sign tells me it's just unmaintained groundskeeping). I'd recommend it if you want to kill an hour or so, if you are looking for something free to do, and/or are big into food, herbology, or using herbs...
Read moreI really love this little area of Balboa Park. There's flowers all year, and the healthy number of volunteers keeps it clean and aesthetically pleasant. Until we get some rain. Like most San Diego parks, invasive, non-native species are out of control. Mustard, Nasturtium, and Stinging Nettles are the main problems, but there are many more.
