September 13, 2025 Update: The servers are still great. The food needs some help. The tempura was barely okay. It should be lighter and the vegetables should be prepared better. The onions were really thick with the brown skin still there. The California roll were mushy with no crunch. The cucumber and avocado were not visible. I'm guessing they were ground up. The beef bowl is barely enough for a light lunch, and we're light eaters. No edamame or sunomono. This place has been a family favorite for close to 40 years. Sad to see this.
April 25, 2024 Update: They now have a dish with the word sukiyaki in it, but it's just sukiyaki flavored beef served over rice, with broccoli. We've had sukiyaki served all over the country, and it never had broccoli. It should be served in the flavorful sukiyaki broth with onions, cabbage, tofu, bamboo shoots, and several kinds of Japanese noodles (clear and udon) with rice on the side. Never broccoli in a Japanese restaurant.
I used to give them 5 stars. They no longer serve sukiyaki, and their beef terriyaki needs a better cut of beef, so my husband hates going there. We used to go there several...
Read moreThis is probably some of the best sushi that I've had in the area. The sushi is always fresh, and I've never had fish that seems like it's old. I always get the sashimi personally, although I have also had the tempura which is equally as good. It's breaded nicely and it's not overly greasy or anything. The rice is basic but a classic. It's never been poorly done for me, so I'm happy with that. They also bring you free edamame.
As for drinks, their tea is amazing. The glass that they serve it in keeps it really warm without burning your hands, so props to them for that.
The staff is always friendly and helpful. They come over quickly, refill the edamame, and refill teas. The food always comes out fairly quickly.
The interior is pretty nice. It's you run of the mill sushi restaurant decorations, but it's not like it looks run down at all.
This is probably one of my favorite sushi restaurants in the area. I really enjoy the food and I come here quite frequently. I would highly recommend.
UPDATE: They no longer offer edamame for free and the outdoor seating isn’t the best at all. If it keeps going downhill I’ll have to change...
Read moreGreat food horrible management I understand all the issues with labor & product It’s just that when you call in an order to help out the business save the % that Uber takes from them & you are given a 50 min timetable then you arrive 60 mins instead of 50 to allow them to have sufficient time to finish the order
Then you are given a “oh sorry it will only be another 5 mins” and they take another 45 mins and no one ever approaches me to explain if I am fine after said 5 mins.
no one seems to care that I spent 110mins to purchase food to help the business have a little more profit
then the woman (who seems in charge is sitting in the dining room just chatting & laughing with a friend) in 45 mins that I was there waiting for my food she only went into the kitchen 1 time to see what was going on in general (that took 4mins) then returned to her seat and continued with her festivities.
It would be appreciated if they actually gave a …. about peoples time
The food is good but nothing...
