ONE OF MY NEW, FAVORITE RESTAURANT IN SAN FRANCISCO!!
I've never explored Haight street before so I took the opportunity with my boyfriend to venture this street at night. After failing to find a restaurant to eat at in Little Italy, he took me here. Not going to lie, it was sketchy around the area.
When we stumbled upon this place, we looked at the menu and went somewhere else to check the surrounding restaurants. Thank goodness we didn't find anywhere else and decided to eat here.
ATMOSPHERE: The lighting in this place was moderate. Not too dim like Abercrombie & Fitch and not too bright like the Its Sugar candy store. The noise level was quiet and everyone was speaking at a conversation level. The tables and chairs were neatly organized which was appealing.
FOOD: After we ordered, we were given street sign numbers as order numbers which I thought was original. I ordered the seafood pasta ($14) which was composed of mussels and clams with lemon and white wine, I believe. Let me just tell you that this was the best seafood pasta I've ever had at a very reasonable cost! The lemon definitely boosted the flavor of my pasta and couldn't get enough of it! I sprinkled some cheese and chili flakes on top of it to give it a little more kick. After devouring my pasta, I dipped the bread that came with it in my leftovers and it was great! Both the bread and the leftovers.
CUSTOMER SERVICE: I would say it was decent. It was a quiet night so there wasn't a lot of servers on the floor and just the one taking orders. Whenever we needed water, a waiter would gladly refill it after notifying him.
I would definitely love to come back here again and I highly recommend checking this...

I must give kudos to the shop owners and presumably the city for the transformation I seen in the Haight/Ashbury area. I've been here many times in my 51 years on this spinning globe. I have seen different conditions in this historic and much beloved area. There were times, after wandering through the shops, that I thought I would need a penicillin shot, just to be on the safe side. Other times when it was laden with addicts asking for change, every ten feet you walked (no judgments here. I sincerely pray for their difficulties and well being). Today, I seen families walking with their kids, showing them shops and explaining the rich history of the area. The shops were cleaned up and the entire area had a welcoming feel I have never before experienced. That is so vitally important as it is in the true spirit of the 60's hippie movement and what it stood for. It wasn't all about drugs and orgies (although that was sometimes true of some of the folks of the era), it was about Peace. There was still a feeling of morality in folks, with most wishing happiness, freedom, tranquility, and Peace on those around them. That's what the folks from that era would like people to take from it all. It was great to see it be a safe and peaceful place to...

The hollandaise this time was just on the side in a cup and it was thicker than chipotle mayo. The roasted tomato (which we both thought was just perfect last time) was hardly cooked and thick this time - husband had to put it aside and not eat it.
:/
Don't get the bean chili unless you like cumin bc that's all it tasted like - not good.
_________Original Post: The crab cake benedict is excellent. My husband and I both had it and agreed that it was particularly good (we order these at many places).
The complaint we had, however, was the very unpleasant cashier. It made the initial experience very off putting as she had a very sour face and made faces/had attitude when we ordered or asked questions, all while being very polite and friendly to her. Regardless, she seemed to be just very annoyed. Everything post order was good, though, once she was out of the picture - but we both remarked about how significantly bad her demeanor was. She seems absolutely miserable and intolerant of customer service (older lady). Perhaps she shouldn't be doing something that makes her seem so pained - it really affects the customer experience and initial perception of the place.
BTW - not sure why, but this is now called the 1428 Haight Patio Cafe & Crepery though their certificates on the wall still say Squat &...
