This is, simply put, one of the best pizza places in the country. I’ve eaten probably thousands of pizzas in all different styles including famous standouts like Di Fara (Brooklyn), Prince St. (Manhattan), Modern Pizza (New Haven), Pepe’s (New Haven), Vito and Nick’s (Chicago), you name it. I’ve also tried just about every major pizza place (and unknown ones) in the SF Area.
The pizza here is identical to what you get at Tony’s albeit in a more limited selection of styles. Not all styles are equally impressive.
But the real standout is the 20” NY Style Pie. Is it truly “NY Style”? Purists would say no due to the cornmeal dusting on the crust. But if you open your mind a little bit, you’ll see there’s perfection in every bite. For starters, the crust is thin for most of the pizza but has just enough firmness to support the pizza while folded without sagging. The sauce is savory with only a hint of sweetness (nothing worse than pizza sauce that tastes sweet). The pepperoni is of the highest quality and curls into little greasy cups. The cheese has a satisfying bite and delicious nutty aromas. The crust borders are fluffy without being doughy.
Is it the best pizza in the country? No, but it makes the top 10. Prince St. in NY for instance has a slightly thicker more bacony pepperoni with a spice that is far more complex than at Tony’s. Di Fara (Brooklyn)’s “sauce” is much more simple with hand crushed tomatoes, sea salt, and top quality olive oil that provides an incredible depth of flavor you don’t get at Tony’s. Gioia’s slice in SF for instance has a blend of cheeses that provides a beautiful tang and complexity. But no one in the bay really manages to do everything together as well as Tony Gemigniani. He truly is...
Read morePutting all New York style pizzerias in San Francisco on notice, is slice house, coming with a slice, constructed of superior materials, and great toppings, not to mention a really cool staff. Not sure whether or not the crust is sourdough, but it's definitely somewhere south of regular pizza dough for sure, and I was told by one of the workers there, that the owner, Tony Gemignani, is calabrese, which makes total sense, since the tomato sauce is not some slopped on Campbell's tomato soup like a lot of places, but a well constructed, slightly smoky, and herbaceous rich, dark, tomato sauce, lightly applied. (It's the glutamates, man!) They have a few different kinds of slices, and keep it all pretty close to home, while at the same time serving up some great regional sausages and vegetables. I Highly recommend this place, and even though I normally hate paying more than $5 for a slice of pizza, at $7, I have to say it, this one was worth it. I got the Webb's double sausage slice, and could not have been happier. They'll be seeing me a lot more around here. Don't be a pansy, tell them to make your slice extra crispy, to enjoy what it's really supposed to taste like. With a slice and a soda you're in and out for under $10, but make sure to leave a tip for the hard working people there.
With locations in the Haight, San Leandro, Belmont, Walnut Creek, Rohnert Park and thousand oaks. I'm glad that I'll never be too far from one of these divine slices. Arnell's, eat your heart out. Piero.

Read moreMy review is for the Customer service and the way this establishment is being run, not the pizza itself, I didn't get a chance to taste it due to the situation that I'm about to explain. Although I will say I've been coming here for years and the Pizza is Great! Last Night 6/13/20 at approx 8:50-9:00p.m. My girlfriend and I walk into Slice House Pizza, with plans to get a slice of each that they had to offer. After waiting in line and getting to the register, the Cashier informed us that they were "OUT" of Slices of Pizza.... Mind you, the name of this place is SLICE HOUSE.... I said we would wait, then she responded with, We won't be making anymore slices, you will have to order an entire Pizza, Whaaat... It's only 9 o'clock, there are 2 more hours until you close. Wait a minute, this can't be right Again this Place is called SLICE HOUSE PIZZA !!!! Won't be coming here anymore, not sure who's in charge nowadays But it's tooken...
