Poor communication. Poor service. I showed up at ten minutes to 4pm (they close at 5pm) and they didn't have any coffee and didn't want to brew more because they were closing. That would make a little more sense if they weren't a coffee shop, or, at least a cafe whose primary beverage is coffee.
So I asked about the black teas. I was looking at the hot tea menu. He said, "you want iced tea? we have black or green." I told asked if the black was good and he shrugged, so I asked if it was strong and he didn't know. The other woman turned around to tell me he was new and didn't know. Ok. Much of this is bordering on ok for a cafe getting ready to close, but the service wasn't even present. I'm sure they were both tired. Probably. Maybe even a little resentful of their jobs? Maybe they just don't know what good service is but I'll tell you, after paying $1 for sweetened generic whipped cream from the outlet store (for my dog), the whole experience was not pleasant. 2 stars because I've been in the morning a couple of times just for a simple cup of Joe and the morning crew was much better at communicating. I don't want to be coddled. I just want good service, no matter what I'm buying.
The Irish Breakfast tea is decent. My large breed dog had a couple licks of whip cream. Neither one of us is bowled over.
I'd go one block over to Beanstalk cafe. They've always had good service, even once giving me a pastry I didn't order because I had ordered online and they didn't see it for 20+ minutes. And... they spoil my dog, which of course, is above and beyond.
The one redeeming factor for Ashley's is if you just want a simple cup of coffee (before they stop brewing it) it's a decent price. I didn't get it today, but last time a couple of months ago it was $2.50.
Anyway, long story short. Beware the business ethics. We could make excuses all day long, but getting down to it good service and basic ingredients (specific to the type of restaurant) are foundational.
Long winded over a cup of Joe. Take that for what you will. But know, my dog doesn't conversate about these...
ย ย ย Read moreIt's a nice spot for wifi and coffee. I have bought food from them and sometimes it is good, but sometimes it is....not so good
Today I learned they sometimes have their bacon last for 3-4 days in the refrigerator, which is why it taste so bad when I buy it.
When I tried to speak to them about it and explain my experience, they didn't really care about my business as a customer. And I have been purchasing from them for sometime because I live in the neighborhood. They are nice people but the quality of the food ...well, I don't know any place that would serve bacon three days later
So they lose a few stars. Normally I would give 1 star for this except they have other good items and they are overall a...
ย ย ย Read moreCame in real quick to buy something cheap to get change for the bus. Instead, I was greeted in an exceptionally friendly way and was told not to worry about buying something and just gave me the change for my buck. For a second I thought I was back home in Colorado. Not only does this make me want to come back and actually try the cafe out, but it just goes to show how they treat not only their customers, but people as well. With such a kind atmosphere, I doubt it would be any different when I return as a customer. Experience is more than half of why I still go out to places. Otherwise, I'd buy things at the market and save the money. They exceeded my expectations as a potential customer, keep up the...
