Dining at Base Camp turned into an exceptional experience, greatly attributed to our waiter, Bhupesh. His service was not merely about taking orders and serving food; it was about creating an unforgettable dining journey. Bhupesh’s expertise and passion for Nepali cuisine were evident from the moment we sat down. He guided us through the menu with ease, recommending dishes like Tofu Chow Mein, Kale Chaat, and Fried Chicken, each a culinary masterpiece that spoke volumes of the rich flavors Nepal has to offer.
The Tofu Chow Mein, as recommended by Bhupesh, was a delightful surprise, perfectly seasoned and packed with fresh ingredients. The Kale Chaat was an explosion of flavors, beautifully balanced and a testament to the innovative spirit of the kitchen. The Fried Chicken, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, was elevated by a spicy aioli that Bhupesh pointed out, making it a dish we still reminisce about.
What set Bhupesh apart was his ability to enhance our dining experience with his knowledge, warmth, and attention to detail. He anticipated our needs, engaged us with stories behind the dishes, and ensured that each recommendation suited our taste preferences. His passion for delivering an exceptional dining experience was palpable, making us feel not just as guests, but as part of the Base...
Read moreThe food and the service at Base Camp was really good. The food was flavorful yet delicate and not at all overpowering. There are outdoor heaters, but since there is indoor dining we decided to go down that route. They did make sure that the tables were well distanced, and the employees masked. We ordered the fried chicken, the kheema and roti, and the lamb biriyani. All the dishes were in the money. It was well lit when we got there but shortly after they dimmed the lights and the ambiance too got a lot warmer and cozier. Well done Base Camp...I wish I took some photos, but it completely slipped my mind. I guess I was too preoccupied with eating last night :)
Pro tip: there is really good happy hour that can be taken advantage of if you get there before 6pm. Reasonable prices and a good selection of items.
April 2nd update: the folks who run Basecamp are awesome, but so are the waitstaff. Amol waited on us yesterday and he was like everyone else at basecamp...great. Shh...don’t tell anyone, but I think I have a crush on Basecamp...it’s becoming my...
Read moreButter chicken - my favorite dish here, perfectly balanced spices and flavors. Most butter chicken I’ve eaten around the area is just really orange which can fool you into thinking it’s packed with flavor, until you eat it and realize it’s all just food color. Also probably the first one I’ve had here in a while that wasn’t crazy sweet like they all end up being at restaurants. Rich, creamy and flavorful. 10/10
Garlic naan - soft and fluffy, could use a bit more garlic because you can just never have too much. 8/10
Pork ribs - falls right off the bone, cooked to perfection, love the gravy. It came with tingmo which is a steamed bread - also delicious. 9/10
beautiful surprise of a place. Loved the food. Would definitely eat from here again.
Update- took a star off, got takeout another time and the food didn’t taste nearly as good. We got butter chicken, naan, rice again and also decided to try the pork momos. Didn’t enjoy them much. The whole...
