I haven't had Yifang since I was in New York, where I consistently ordered fruit teas and was met with disappointment. My hotel was within a 5 minute walk of this location so I decided to give Yifang one more try, after hearing so many great reviews. I realize now that I'm just not a fan of fruit teas!
This time around, I came prepared - milk teas only. The first day (yes, I came here multiple times throughout the trip), Fresh Taro Green Tea latte caught my eye. First sip - I was blown away. I immediately came across the realization that I had never had REAL taro in a drink prior. So many boba chains I frequent use taro powder instead of the real stuff that I couldn't believe what I was drinking.
Next day, I stole sips of my brother's Winter melon Latte. Also a winner! The drink was only mildly sweet, which is what I prefer these days. It didn't make me feel heavy, like most bobas do, and I didn't have a sugar crash!
Prices are pretty steep. Each drink runs at about $7-8, which is typical for boba in SF. I think of this price in comparison to a Chipotle bowl, and it turns me off. However, this chain is the only one where I can say confidently say is worth every penny. The ingredients are fresh so you get the peace of mind that you're not just pumping your body full of chemicals and artificial sugar. I actually prefer Yifang over Boba Guys now! And...
Read moreSuper cute place, fresh ingredients - organic cane sugar, no powders or concentrates, tea leaves from the mountains of Taiwan, harvested spring time! This branch is located right in the heart of Chinatown. Their menu has recommendations for the drink customizations.
I love how they have pineapple, passion fruit, lemon teas, fresh taro latte (fresh quality taro from the Taiwanese town of Dajia), Uji Matcha Latte (Matcha from Kyoto!). They are mostly famous for their pineapple drinks though, as the family owns a pineapple farm in Taiwan. Their signature Yifang fruit tea has passion fruit, pineapple, green tea and mixed fruit slices!
Make sure to shake the drink first before you poke the straw so the sugar disperses evenly!
I got the pineapple green tea with less ice and 30% sugar, and I found it refreshing and...
Read moreYifang is one of my favorite tea shops because of their many unique offerings. I have tried other flavors here but my favorite is the Sugar Cane Mountain Tea since it isn’t offered in our Hawaii location. It also reminds me of my childhood - chewing on fresh and sweet sugar cane from Chinatown. Yum!
In fact, the menu in Hawaii is much more limited. We also don’t have almond jelly as a topping choice so I like to get that. It’s soft and sweet like almond jello.
You complete your order and payment on a digital screen and then your drinks are made. Super easy and quick service with a nice little waiting area. ...
