I would like to share my honest review of this restaurant. I went to Dumpling Time for the first time with my girlfriend August 9th 2025 after a Golden State Valkyries game.
There's nothing wrong with the food. The food was fine. We shared some pork gyoza, ha gao, edamame, and beijing noodles.
I might have high standards because I am Chinese, but the food was just "ok." The Beijing noodles were tasty and had a bit of pork in the noodles. I thought that was tasty and it was the highlight of the meal. It was a lot of fun to eat - it was salty and had some nice fat flavor.
The Ha Gow was good too. It was quite like what you get at a dim sum restaurant. You got 4 pieces of dumpling per order. I thought it was pretty good, however the dumpling wrapper was a bit too thick to my liking. Maybe that's my personal preference, I'm not sure. It was good, but it wasn't rock off my socks good. Also for the price I paid I thought the dumplings were a little too small. I've eaten dumplings in Chinatown San Francisco and Los Angeles where you get more dumpling per dollar. Not to say that these aren't good, but they are just not stand out.
My girlfriend was also ambivalent about the pork gyoza. It was red, which is a cool novelty trick (I suspected that there was some food dye used). These were a little bit dry. The pork flavor was dry and while the presentation was solid, I thought the taste again, was just average.
Finally, I would like to describe the Edamme that I ate. It was good. However, it was doused in butter and salt. I suppose it is easy to put butter and salt in any vegetable dish and make it tasty. However I feel like butter and salt defeat the purpose of trying to make a healthy dish.
The price wasn't so bad - it was about $65 dollars for a party of two. It was a busy night so I had to hound the waiter down a couple of times to take our order and also to pay the bill. They seemed overworked, but the entire restaurant was packed full. My main criticism is not with the price itself, but the quality of the food. The food's presentation looks good, but the taste is average. I felt as if my mom made better, higher quality dumplings than this restaurant. There isn't much care to the details of the dumplings and that was disappointing. I am not sure if I would come back a...
Read moreHad the pleasure of visiting Dumpling time yesterday for my husbands & I mini date of the week. Thankfully we work close by so walking to the restaurant was a breeze. Love that this location is right next to the new chase center gives you great views while eating.
We had never been to this restaurant and honestly I haven't had dim sum in a really long time. Thankfully our waiter Nicholas was fantastic. I asked so many questions on recommendations on what to order. He suggested multiple items on the menu and we ended up ordering all of his recommendations. They did absolutely not disappoint.
We ordered; Chili pork dumplings Wagyu fried rice Sea food gyoza Chat-siu Bao Seared pork buns to go.
Every single item we had off the menu was delicious. The wagyu steak was cooked perfect medium rare. Yes not a lot of steak on it but acceptable for the price. The chili dumplings were spicy but not overly spicy. The bbq pork buns were so good. Super soft and hot and tasty. They are not skimpy on the fillings. What stole the show for the evening was the sea food gyoza! Man oh man were those delicious that I even considered ordering a second order. They had a whole shrimp inside and the sauce that was placed with them paired so perfectly. I legit cannot say one bad thing about our food experience here.
Unfortunately since we don't usually dine in the city we were unaware that if we don't have our vaccinations cards with us we would not be able to dine inside. Not to worry since it was a nice day out and the wind hadn't picked up too much that we decided to stay and eat outside in the dinning area.
The waiters and servers were all amazing. They were very attentive and friendly towards all the guests. We will absolutely be returning to this location for dinner or even a...
Read moreWe had such a great experience at this restaurant. The staff was 5 stars! Super attentive, courteous, and friendly without being in your face all the time. They welcomed us in, told us about some of their favorites even offered us a paper menu if we preferred that. They have qr codes at each table where you scan to look at the menu. The food came out hot and the server noticed that our table was full and had a couple of dishes leftz so he said he will wait on those orders until we had space, super attentive! Also refilled my water 5 times! The bathroom are all unisex stalls and there is also a baby changing table at the very end of the bathroom hallway. Now onto the food... the string beans perfect amount of garlic and sauce! We had 2 orders of pork XLB so juicy! Only thing i didnt like was that it stuck to the metal container and was hard to pull out bc then the juice would all run out. But we had the big spoons so that helped a little. We also had the ribs, finger licking good- they give you warm towels after to wipe your hands too! We also had the veggie spring rolls perfect amount of crispy, seafood potsickers-yum! And the garlic shrimp noodles lots of shrimp in it! Bc we had kids with us the server would let us know if there were spicy chilies etc and would offer if we needed that on the side. Love it here and will...
