I have to start by saying, I rarely post reviews on Yelp and/or Google but Miller & Lux deserves reviews on both which is why I took the time to write reviews on both sites.
We arrived just before our reservation time (6:25pm) and were warmly greeted at the front door by the staff. Right when you walk in, there's a sophisticated and inviting horseshoe shaped bar straight away. We were dining in the restaurant but the bar looked like an amazing space to catch a drink before a game at the Chase center.
The Restaurant: The host staff immediately walked us up the stairs (to the left upon entry) which zig zag back and forth before you land with a grand view of the entire restaurant which looks out over the Bay (amazing views). The tables were spaced in a way that allow for everyone to have ample space, providing a great experience. The view of The Bay was amazing, I could only imagine seeing it during the day when the sun was out. I really liked the interior of the restaurant, not over designed, it was simply sophisticated. I later googled who designed the interior of the restaurant and learned it was designed by Ken Fulk, who based on his following is one of the best in the business.
The Drinks: We ordered the Bartlett Coupe. The cocktail was amazing. I normally enjoy a basic drink (Vodka Soda/Manhatten). The Bartlett Coupe was a nice non-sweet sophisticated twist with subtle flavor hints with every sip. I enjoyed it so much, I ordered a second one before dinner.
The Food: Don't miss out on the table side Caesar. The chef prepared ours table side and let me tell you, BEST CAESAR EVER! The dressing was made from scratch right in front of your eyes and the croutons + thinly dried orange slice added really took this salad to a new world. For Dinner, we ordered family style for dinner: he tomahawk Ribeye, ML Burger (My daughter preferred her own meal, teenager), Cream Kale, Puree Potatoes, Truffle Fries, and the Pumpkin Ravioli. The steak was the best steak I've ever eaten. We ordered Medium and it came perfectly cooked from the kitchen. The tomahawk actually comes out with the steak as well. The steak was so good, I picked up the tomahawk and was nibbling until every last ounce of meat was gone. I didn't try the burger but my daughter loved it, by the time I turned to ask for a bite halfway through dinner, she had already finished. The sides were amazing, the potato puree was my favorite and paired well with the steak.
The Desserts: These are true works of art. We didn't have room to indulge and were in a hurry to catch the game but I will definitely be saving room next time. They brought them over on a cart and all were perfectly curated, sad I missed the opportunity to have dessert this go around.
Overall, this is a must visit and re-visit. I will definitely be re-visiting. A big thank you to the staff and kitchen, epic...
Read moreI originally wanted to visit this restaurant because I heard rumors that there was a secret entrance to Chase Center for events/games. After looking at the menu it was pretty much a forgone conclusion that I'd check it out. I booked a table of four originally, but as things go, a couple more wanted to join. I checked Open Table but there was not any seating available for 6. So I texted the support on Open Table and was put in touch with Tiff over at Miller and Lux. She was fantastic, so sweet and accommodating. Originally they were only able to move us to bar seating for our party (which would've been fine now that I've seen it, but I know the ambiance might have taken a hit if we did that). She texted later and stated that they were able to get us a table!
Upon entering, we were greeted very professionally by the staff. Tiff was there too! Everyone couldn't have been more welcoming. While we waited on our table we had some cocktails at the bar. Once brought upstairs to the main dining room, we were seated and had a beautiful views of the Bay (there's an elevator if you're worried about the stairs).
My party of six pretty much ordered one of everything of the steak and chicken variety, along with a handful of the apps/sides. I tried a bit of everyone's meals and can say none of us made a bad decision. Everything was perfect. The shrimp was so big, it was like a steak! The oysters with roe were one of my favorite things. Even the bread could've been a meal in and of itself. The bread has a firm croissant vibe with a nice egg texture inside. It was all a bit pricy for me, but as a treat I don't think I could beat the ambiance and service. The desserts all looked so good but I was so full after everything I couldn't make room for it. The cheesecake looked epic, if I'm ever in the neighborhood, I might stop by just to try that.
After the amazing meal with the best service, I went to the bathroom before heading off to our concert. The bathrooms were so nice, ornate affectations, rustic sconces, a slightly opaque mirrors gave off a cool vibe. There were full door stalls. It smelled so good too (I think there might have been candles).
Once the bill was settled, we were escorted through a special door at Chase Center... No line whatsoever. Just a metal detector with a really nice security guard, and we walked straight to our area. It felt more VIP than anything I've done at a concert before and added to the long list of things that justified the price of...
Read moreI enjoy an early dinner by popping by for a staple supper of truffle deviled eggs and crudités; table-made Caesar salad for two: delicately placed sourdough croutons, Meyer lemon preserves, Spanish white anchovies, caramelized Meyer lemon chip, baby romaine lettuce, Gilroy garlic, sea salt, Parmesan, and olive oil; black truffle Parmesan frittes, Brussels sprout hash browns in whole grain apple mustard or sometimes pear; easy, two-person share, 45-day dry-aged, 20-oz New York steak with green peppercorn bordelaise (I have tried all three special sauces and clearly favor the peppercorn bordelaise with immense pleasure)—the well-cooked crisp, browned outer crust leaves the senses eagerly awaiting the interior tender, juicy, voluptuousness of taste. I am a dessert first girl and simply help myself to three fancy selections from the sweets trolley: my favorites are many; however, I often choose a green apple cake, coconut cake, and lime tart. I do fancy chocolate once in a while. The selections vary from time to time and I’m always eager to try. Chef frequently stops by to chat and I regularly remind him to share how the Brussels sprout hash browns are made—what fun (readers keep in mind, I’m reviewing the restaurant and my experience, not the chef and his history). Now, the best thing about the restaurant is, by far, the professional staff, they are familiar faces. Regularly, these fine group of restraunteur professionals find their way to say hello and thank you for dining—it’s really great to welcome good dining along the San Francisco waterfront within walking distance for me. A simple text message to remind me that my table is ready if I want to stop by early is always welcomed—Tif will get you set up. Miller and Lux does boast other fancy features including outdoor seating and a well stocked bar on the first floor. A seafood selection is at the ready for those who want to partake. Late night dining is an option for those who have interest and an epicurean appetite. Chase Center dining makes it convenient to Mission Bay. Reservations suggested and full menu is available at the bar, if it suits the diner. Indeed, enjoy!
