TL:DR: You are paying a premium for the location and the view(s), which are great - but the food doesn't quite stack up to the price(s). However, the service was great! If you're ok with that, it's worth a try (maybe we tried it on an off night?).
If you can't afford to overpay for food that isn't up to par, then you should pass.
Food: 3.75 Service: 4.25 Atmosphere: 4.5
Food: Note, we ordered off the small plate menu to give as many things a try as we could handle :)
Clam chowder: We tried this because the hostess said it was popular. It was either watery or under seasoned, I couldn't tell which. I don't use table salt ever but I was prepared to put salt in this clam chowder. That says a lot coming from someone like me (I get you'd have to know me first to see why adding salt is such a big deal for me).
I had to use the packaged oyster crackers they provided to give it some more flavor. Probably would not order this again. 5/10
Glazed chicken wings: The skin was crispy which was nice and the inside was not overcooked. That said, the glaze was not as flavorful as the description led me to believe. Seemed heavy on the chili sauce but lacking in other areas, this could have been a batch that just wasn't as good as they usually are.
I'd probably order the wings again to give them another chance. For now: 6/10
Ahi Tuna: This app was pretty good. The fish was fresh and the avocado was aplenty. I also liked the fried strips they use (instead of chips). They have an entre version of this as well, which includes rice. I'd probably give that a try next time. 8/10
Bonus: Coffee I forgot to ask what decaffeinated coffee they serve, but I liked it. For context, I'm a Peete's Starbage person. This decaf only needed cream and no sugar, which...
Read moreFirst time visiting Mission Rock Resort restaurant yesterday and it was a great experience. Mission Rock Resort is located directly across from the Chase Center (home of the Warriors) on Terry Francois Blvd. Mission Rock Resort is an all purpose restaurant. There is a daily brunch menu from 10 am - 3 pm, a robust bar, it’s great for seafood, sits right on the water with beautiful scenery, is multi-leveled, has indoor/outdoor seating, and is good for families, friends, and date night. Reservations are recommended but not required, especially during brunch hours. Everyone loves a good brunch and mimosas. Now, to be fair, it is on the expensive side of dining. My wife and I went and had one appetizer and two entrees, which came out to about $85.00. We ordered French fries as the appetizer, which was good. I ordered the Dungeness crab and shrimp roll, which had a lot potential, but, was not worth $35.00. The toasted and buttered brioche bun was fantastic, and my sandwich would have been better, IF, the crab and shrimp weren’t {cold}. If you like this set up, it’s great, but, if you want hot seafood, I would avoid this. The menu says that it comes with fries but our server Brendan said it actually comes with kettle chips and salad. Why would every menu list the wrong items?!?! My wife had mashed potatoes and fish, which, wasn’t bad but the fish was crispy on the outside (which is great) but the consistency was off on the inside. Now, I’m willing to give any place a second chance, because of the various menus. Overall, it’s...
Read moreIt was a sunny Saturday and we decided to seek out a spot for an afternoon lunch with a water view. We decided on Mission Rock and were happy to find parking pretty easily and got seated upstairs. So far so good. My friend tried a mimosa made with grapefruit juice while I stuck with water. We ordered the ceviche to share. I had the mussels and fries and my friend had a burger with fries. The mimosa was only average as it was difficult to discern the flavors of the grapefruit juice or the bubbly, which I believe was Prosecco. The ceviche was sadly served with either fried flour tortillas or wonton strips. They were so stale it was hard to tell. The ceviche itself lacked citrus and could’ve used a bit more salt. Unfortunately, it was very difficult to get the attention of the server to ask for more lime. Inexplicably, they serve the mussels and fries in the same dish. So my request for crispy fries was overwritten by the fact that they were soaking in the mussel cooking sauce. The mussels themselves were OK although I had to discard three or four. The burger looked really delicious, but my eating partner was underwhelmed with the flavor of the overcooked beef and the size of the patty. The fries were served in a cone shaped dish and were nestled in a sheet of paper. We both laughed when we realized that the paper was an old menu that had been cut up. Not very appetizing to think that the food you are eating has been sitting on an old menu that who knows how many people...
