I recently had the pleasure of dining at Bocado, a new Peruvian restaurant in San Francisco, and it was an absolute delight from start to finish! The moment I stepped inside, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that set the tone for the incredible dining experience that awaited.
The menu at Bocado offers a wide range of tantalizing Peruvian dishes, and I must say, each one exceeded my expectations. Let me start by raving about the Sangria—it was the perfect balance of flavors and a refreshing way to begin my meal. As for the ceviche, it was a true taste sensation. The fresh and tangy combination of citrus-marinated seafood was a burst of flavors that left me wanting more.
I also had the pleasure of trying the salad, lomo saltado, and scallops, and each dish was crafted with great attention to detail. The salad was vibrant and crisp, the lomo saltado was a delicious mix of tender beef, sautéed vegetables, and a mouthwatering sauce, while the scallops were perfectly seared and melted in my mouth. Every bite was a celebration of Peruvian cuisine at its finest.
Beyond the outstanding food, I must commend the restaurant's owner, Alex. His warm hospitality and genuine passion for Peruvian cuisine were evident throughout my visit. He took the time to personally recommend dishes and share interesting stories about the origins of each recipe. Alex's presence added an extra layer of authenticity to the dining experience, and his enthusiasm for Peruvian culture was infectious.
To sum it up, Bocado is a true gem in the heart of San Francisco. The combination of delicious food, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere make it a must-visit for anyone seeking an unforgettable Peruvian culinary adventure. I can't wait to return and explore more of their delectable menu. Kudos to Alex and his team for creating such a remarkable dining...
Read moreTL;DR Food was good but was not worth the extremely long wait. I hope the owners will solve this kitchen staffing issue.
This was a Sunday night and the server let us know there was only one person in the kitchen to make food for the 9 tables seated that night (around half full). We ordered an appetizer and two mains. It took almost an hour for us to get all of our food. Our server was super nice about it and came to apologize several times but at the end of the day, we waited a long time and so did everyone else at the restaurant. Our server offered a dessert on the house at the end of the meal (after another compulsory wait). Looking at the other tables around the restaurant, everyone was waiting on mains for a long time. Some tables got one person's main, while the other person's took ~20 mins longer.
The food was quite good. The Shrimp Causa was delicious and plated beautifully. The Lomo Saltado was full of flavor and the beef was cooked to a medium rare. The Tallarin Saltado was similar but we preferred the textural differences you get in the Lomo Saltado.
We were also told that the 15% off discount advertised on Yelp was no longer valid but they choose to keep the post up on this restaurant page. This seems like some shady buisness practices.

We would totally come back for the food, if they can fix the service times. Thanks to our server for looking after us and keeping us in the loop. Maybe I'll order from delivery...
Read moreWe just came back from the restaurant on Tuesday evening, July 11. We are on our early 50s and travel a lot. Our waitress, Karla, gave us the best service experience in our one week visit in San Francisco. The people were very attentive, refreshingly nice and knew proper service and etiquette. However, they played Regaetton type music which was so loud and obnoxious that we had to ask them to lower it, which they did for a while, but then someone turned it up again. In addition a large TV displayed sharks. Not a nice atmosphere for dinner. We had the Bocado sampler which is cechive with 3 different kinds. The fish was cut unusually large, almost twice as large than whay you get in poke. The taste was ok. We had the Shrimp Causa which looked very impressive but was just ok. Then we had the Lomo Saltado which was stir fry with beef and French fries. To our surprise the French fries did not come separate but were mixed into the stir fry which made them soggy. The pieces of beef were cooked nicely but the dish was also very oversalted. We would come back and try other dishes if they would not play this obnoxious monoton, bar-type music for dinner with aggressive sharks on huge display. Maybe the place tries to...
