I am going to start off and say - this is not the Hilton - but it never advertises itself as such, and a Shared Bathroom "European Style" (I'm European and never seen this in my life) is very common in San Francisco on budget hotels - so make sure you read your booking. That being said, my review is as follows: Hotel Staff - I've stayed here a couple times now and the couple that work the front desk have always been incredibly polite and have never had any issues. If you're looking for somewhere cheap and close to central - these guys have you covered. The Room & Amenities - Since my last visit, things have got a bit better, it feel like the rooms are cleaner, and there are more amenities on the included sink (soap / lotion / body wash etc) and more towels. The Room is cheap and cheerful, has a couple of draws, a chair, TV and a decent sized bed. There are a couple things it could do with - some wall hooks for jackets / towels after shower etc, and maybe some brighter bulbs for the main light in the room - it takes a long time for the warm bulb to actually start giving off light. The bathrooms whilst shared have always been incredibly clean whilst I've stayed here (3 times) and never had any issues with waiting etc. Only other side note - for the TV's move the TV box behind the TV - don't have it just hanging out. I honestly feel with some fresh paint / new curtains and those little tweaks, this place could easily go from a 2 start hotel to 3 star vibes. Location - It's near a highway, but when you get later in the evening you don't hear it. There is a dive bar underneath and a club behind but honestly aside from one time there was a metal band performing, they've never kept me up or awake. In the morning you get a nice light through the window as well which is great for waking up naturally. The Building - This is classic San Francisco "Stick Style" architecture which just oozes character - this building has the history too if you look it, famous people used to come party here! Finally, for Solo Travelers, this is a nice step up from a Dorm Accommodation and for Solo Business that just want a cheap place - it's not bad at all. In my opinion it's one of the only fair priced hotels in the city.

This place i only gave 1 star cause its close to alot of amenities. My boyfriend and i are from out of town and were stying in the east bay. We spent the whole day in san fran and were in kind of a rush picking out a hotel. The google page showed a nice little Victorian hotel so i picked it without reading any reviews.. Bad mistake. The rooms are nothing like pictured. They are way smaller. About the size of someones walk in closet. Shared bathrooms for each floor but there was a sink in the room. The room wasnt properly cleaned because under the sink there was a small garbage can thats garbage wasnt taken out. Not to mention in the morning when i woke up i was coverd head to toe with bites. My arm swollen up to 2 times. I am not shure if it was bed bugs but 3 days later these bites still itch like hell. Please be mindfull if you are going to stay here its not a place for small children or the elderly.

I expectations weren’t high but definitely were low. There’s no elevator as it is an old building. The staff at check out were nice but no one behind the counter was wearing masks or socially distancing. Seem like a regular base gathering. I wasn’t bother as much as I would be with having to share bathroom and shower as it wasn’t crowded. Although it’s unsanitary to have a toilet in a room without a sink to wash hands. It seemed like they clean the shower and toilet room frequently. The bed sheets could be better as they weren’t super clean, there was hair. Towels were clean as they should be as some tough stains were on them. Windows could be insulated more or sound proof. Overall, not too terrible of a place as I thought it would be. 3 star capable, but only 2 star because they aren’t taking Covid seriously.

My experience of this dump will haunt me for the rest of my life. I arrived from England from a 12 hour flight, exhausted and hungry. It's my first time in SF but I didnt feel good about how the area where the hotel is looked whilst in the cab. I didnt care though I was so so tired and just needed to sleep. Arriving at the hotel door I discovered some woman sat on the floor next to it, smoking away. Again, whatever - wasnt expecting the Ritz for what I paid. After being buzzed in, my hopefulness was starting to wane. Immediately I was hit with an overwhelming pungent smell - like urine-y and musty. The place looked like it was going crumble any minute. The carpets were stained and disgusting and to top it all off, the lighting was an off-putting yellow with a green tinge. The stuff of horror films. I checked in and entered my room and, after looking around, I burst out crying. I was exhausted in a strange city late at night and just didnt feel safe or comfortable. The room was freezing with no option for heat. The sink only trickled water out so couldnt wash my hands and face properly. I checked out the shared bathroom and there was no way I was going to use it. ||Back in my room, I told myself its just 2 nights - after that I would be meeting my boyfriend somewhere more upmarket and central. I got in to bed and tried to ignore the drilling outside when I felt something crawling on me - I jumped out of bed and turned on the light and - my worst fear realised - there were multiple bed bugs crawling around. Again, I was so distressed I cried again. I had no other options but to stay here the night. My boyfriend was in a place with no wifi so couldn't contact him until the following day when he would get me a nicer hotel and by this time it was like midnight. I had to sleep ok the cold wood floor with nothing but a towel on top of me and lay there crying. I checked what time sunrise was (6:45) and basically lay there on the floor for 6 hours with a pounding headache from being dehydrated. I was too scared to leave my room incase I encountered anyone dodgy and there was no way I was entering the street. So after pretty much traveling all day from England I hadnt slept, eaten a hot meal or showered for 30 hours. I felt like an animal. I was freezing on that floor.||Somehow I managed to survive the night and left the Hell hole at first light, leaving the key at the dodgy reception. My boyfriend finally got all my messages and immediately booked me into the Westin in Union Sq where I am writing this from, from a nice cosy clean bed in a lovely safe part of town. ||I dont have a lot of money and know lots of people don't either but save for a little longer and spend more comfort, convenience and peace of mind. Its just not worth it. This is a big life lesson learnt. I dont know how this hotel are able to operate under these conditions. I remember lying there thinking that I wouldnt wish this on my worst enemy. You couldnt pay me me to stay there again. I am well and truly...

I came here for business and booked last minute. Hotel prices seemed expensive but this place was really reasonable. I made a huge mistake not paying attention to user reviews on the booking site I used and instead went on the pictures, price and location.||I will never forget this "hotel" for as long as I live. On the first night I got there I was so tired from a long day of travelling. I went straight to bed and crashed for the night. ||My first impressions of the hotel were... Mmm this place is a little manky but screw it, it's a bed and a roof over my head. What else do I need? I was a little pissed about the shared bathroom situation but thought it's manageable. I know people who have used these before. no biggy.||Next morning I got up early and headed off to work. When I got back home I was again tired and decided to go to bed early and watch some TV. It was then I started noticing things. Stains on the mattress cover sheet, hairs on the quilt which weren't mine. Dust everywhere. Even the TV remote was gross. Oh and there as no maid. When I got back to the hotel nothing had changed. Bed wasn't made even.||So I decided screw this and called the booking company and explained the situation and they were able to cancel my next 2 nights stay there and refund my money for those next 2. ||I stayed that again that night but slept with my clothes on because I was terrified that there were bed bugs. I didn't want to check though, I couldnt sum up the bravery to pull off the sheets.||The next morning I had to wait to use the shower and when I got an after the previous guy, I was there for a few mins before someone started thumping on the door. I yelled at them "hey I'm in here" and they left. It was surreal. Oh yeah and one of the towels from my room had some brown stains. Small ones but stains none the less. Gross gross gross.||I rebooked to there Herbert hotel for about an extra $200 and it was so worth it. Way nicer area and a really nice little room with my own personal bathroom! Yay||So my advise to anyone considering booking this place...dont do it. Seriously. Unless you have literally no other option or you can't afford anywhere else just don't do it. And if you do have to do it, bring flip flops for the shower, bring a set of rosery beads and a crucifix and maybe some silver bullets. Seriously, that place was scary.||The annoying thing is that the building from the outside and pictures does look interesting. My advice to the owners would be to give the place a deep clean. Paint the walls. Get new mattresses and hire some cleaners. ||Also, the front desk is so weird. I could go on and on about this place actually so I'll stop. I've said enough. I hope you...
