Farmhouse used to be one of my fave places in the city. I've always enjoyed their sampler plate when I feel like getting a little bit of everything. It's pretty big and I typically order this thru doordash to share with my mom & boyfriend when we want to eat something very nice but stay at home.
But when I'm at the restaurant, I usually like to get the hat yai fried chicken because I could honestly tear that up solo. My runner up is the panang neau.
For this visit, we ordered the hat yai fried chicken, pad kee mow, crab fried rice and three island thai teas.
Their food is always pretty good! But the island thai tea seemed to miss something, we all agreed at the table that it lacked the coconut cream. But there's a chance we all were thinking it'd be more like a thai milk tea - which could be a misinterpretation on our end.
Other days I would have given this place 4 or 5 stars. But yesterday was an interesting experience as our hostess was pretty rude. Not sure if it was part of a sassy act or if he was already annoyed about walk-ins. But two friends & I walked in without reservations and the restaurant likely just opened because there were roughly 5 tables filled out of the 20ish tables around.
When he decided to take us in (mentally), he grabbed menus & began to walk away from us without prompting us to follow. He then looks back at us very annoyed that we didn't follow, we all realize & head towards him where he then places us at our seats and walks away. It was not the best way to start the experience as I've never had a negative experience here before.
After about 45 mins into our meal, he comes back to drop off the check and tells us that we need to wrap it up which is also something I've never experienced at a restaurant. But we paid, I chugged the remainder of my drink, and left.
All in all, food is still good but the customer service experience is disappointing. I acknowledge people have bad days but I haven't seen these two friends that I was having dinner with for a while & was excited to catch up with them but was feeling so rushed & unwanted here. Bummer because I remember telling people how the folks here go above & beyond (especially for birthdays!). But I think things may have changed post-pandemic.
If you come here, consider take-out. The only thing bright & bubbly about this place is their decor. Hopefully this was just a one-off experience, but we’ll see if I ever decide to come back...

Came here last night for a birthday dinner with 11 people total. We all decided to get the coming home family style for everyone, 17 drinks and dessert sampler.
The service here is incredible and as annoying as big groups can be the servers and bussers we're all hospitable, quick and friendly.
The drinks are fantastic, I had a Gold Fashioned, their twist on a classic that came with a ferrero rocher and actual gold leaf. The rest of the group got tasty ones like a pandan and guava one. They are very showy with presentation here. The appetizer sampler was yummy and we got to basically a tasting menu of 6 dishes. All were good except one in my opinion, the deep fried rice. The oyster caviar, tuna, shrimp, scallop and beef roll were all tasty and provided a good mix of heat, flavor, contrast, texture and harmony to start.
The main entrees were disappointing and it would have been better to get options to choose therefore I didn't see value after processing dinner. We got 3 different types of rice, veggies for making spring rolls with a super hot fermented fish sauce I think, a fried pork belly dish, an oxtail curry and lobster. The oxtail and fried pork belly were my favorites and the lobster was a bit of a let down because it was difficult and messy to eat plus it felt overcooked which is easy to do. That dish should be made with shrimp or squid instead or again have the option to sub out.
I was pretty full by the time dessert rolled around but it looked pretty good. They sang happy birthday and I can't say enough about the great service. The venue is clean and the atmosphere is fun like a party. Everything came out to $1756 for 11 or 159pp.
Overall I still enjoyed this place and am happy they are here. Drinks are pricy, food is good, great for date or group but stick to a la carte! I'll definitely be back for a redemption, most of the food is...
Read moreNot that great but will give it a second chance. We were very excited to check this place out but things started to go downhill the moment we noticed the bad attitude from the hostess. She doesn't look like she wants to work here. I suggest the owner either ask if she is okay or find someone else that better represent the restaurant. The place looks very lively and has a lot of potential. Your hostess is the first person your customers greet. Moving on to the food, I order their special Hat Yai Fried Chicken that comes with a small side of blue rice (nothing special just coloring) with roti bread and yellow curry. Very disappointing and overpriced dish. Much better to eat a Popeyes Chicken Sandwich. We also ordered their braised beef soup and the Permanent Vacation cocktail. Beef was a good but then my wife got food poisoning last night and today. Only thing great here was the Permanent Vacation cocktail that packed a punch and tasty for $14. The hostess was a bit happier at the end because we gave them a 20% tip... We'll give this place a second chance but next time we will order traditional...
