We started our meal with a cheese plate, which was very good. We also had the Russet Potato Gnocchi, which was tasty, but I thought the thyme overpowered the white truffle oil. We also had a salad and they were nice enough to put the almonds on the side per our request, since my husband is allergic. For our entrees, my husband had the Maple Leaf Farms Duck Breast, which he said was delicious. I had the Pan Seared Filet Mignon, which was cooked perfectly medium as I had ordered. I enjoyed the vegetables and the red wine demi. For dessert, I had the lemon pavlova, which was the first time I had pavlova. The consistency took me by surprise but it was delicious. My husband had the peach-blueberry cobbler, which was a perfect balance of sweet and tart. The service was excellent. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. The courses were perfectly timed. The ambiance of the restaurant was lovely. We were seated between the bar and the windows. The restaurant was a little loud at times because of some other patrons but that wasn't the restaurant's fault. The prices were appropriate for fine dining but not overly expensive. Overall, we had a very nice dinner and would probably return if we visit San Francisco in the future.

Phenomenal! One of the best dining experience in San Francisco. My friend is vegetarian and I was a bit unsure as the menu is not exactly vegetarian friendly. I was wrong, big time... All vegetarian appetizers we ordered were amazing! Burrata - the sweet and slight tartness of the caramelized apricot compliments with smooth cheese perfectly. Bruschetta - the toasted bread is dipped in honey lightly. The subtle sweet taste brings out flavor of the topping and crunchiness of the bread. For entree, I asked whether the pappardelle can be made in vegetarian version, for two of us to share. The waiter asked about our situation(one vegetarian, one non vegetarian), and offered to make half order in vegetarian, half order in non vegetarian. How kind! And turned out half order was plenty! Panna cotta - so smooth and creamy. Ambience is classic, intimate and romantic, especially if you go upstairs to the attic. Dim candlelight lighting. It is a little dark though, so I didn't take pictures. But makes it perfect as a date spot. Highly recommend! Can't wait to come back!

For my 70th birthday, my in-laws took all 5 of us to Franscati. We had seen the restaurant at the corner of Hyde and Green whilst riding the Cable Car from Ghirardelli Square. Everyone inside stopped eating, and waved - it looked festive, good reviews...we took a chance. Frascati is a POPULAR NEIGHBORHOOD restaurant, with GREAT service, GOOD food, and FESTIVE atmosphere. Old school SF neighborhood place - IYKYK We had such a good time, we rescheduled our 40th anniversary dinner from a steakhouse to Franscati. The owners - host and hostess [both pros] - remembered us, and seated us in the front so our grandson could see the Cable Car. I can't see how the service could have been better. Hate to use the word "magical," but I can only think of one other time where hit this level of perfection - everyone had an enjoyable and care free time - with no disappointments. I can personally attest to the following food - 5+: Filet mignon, gnocchi, chicken, beet salad, ice cream (made in house)

Last month, I checked out Frascati in Russian Hill, a Mediterranean-inspired bistro. Tucked in the corner of one of the neighborhood's many tree-lined streets, Frascati reveals itself as a gem, warm and inviting to both its local residents and diners from afar.

Walking in, you feel like you're in the cozy confines of a quaint inn; candle light bathing the small dining room where patrons sit side by side. The experience is elevated quickly by the immaculate service provided by the courteous staff.

Our food was delicious, from start to finish. We first enjoyed the "Russet Potato Gnocchi with English Peas, Corn, Asparagus, Melted Leeks, Diced Tomato and White Truffle Oil", it just melted in your mouth. For our entrees, we had the "Pan Seared Filet Mignon with Potato-Fennel Gratin, Roasted Root Vegetables, Wild Mushrooms and Demi Glace" and "Grilled Pork Chop with Braised Cabbage, Chorizo, Butter Bean Ragout, Arugula, Roasted Shallots and Tomato Olive Compote", both were just out of this world good. It's been refreshing to visit a place that just excelled on all levels, and to be apparently doing it for that long (it's been open since 1987).

Highly...

Ok, I know this is long but I have to say it all.   I like to consider myself a foodie. I make many Italian dishes. My friends agree I'm pretty good.  It's my favorite cuisine.  Ok, with that run up what's my honest review?  I almost never give reviews unless it's an incredible restaurant; and this one was!  I always worry that the dishes I'll get at a fine dining restaurant will not be as good as I can or have made; but I have to honestly admit that Frascati overwhelmed us.  The dishes were better than I've made!  Not only the food but the service and the hospitality!  I felt like I lived in the neighborhood and was welcomed by the owners. And the vibe?  It's one of the reasons I choose to come here versus other places with more reviews.  Cute does not describe the place; it's cozy, elegant and comfortable.  Feels like you are in Italy.  We never felt rushed.  We had the lobster linguine and mushroom risotto.  The best we've had in 5 years in the Bay Area.  Attesting to that we ate every last bit!  That's a first for us!   Ok, I'm at risk of no one reading this because it's too...
