SORRY MY FIRST REVIEW GOT IT ALL WRONG REALLY, REALLY WRONG.. My apologies after a friend informed me of my mistake..... always triple check your posts.... Folks, this is the best thin crust pizza in the City....Not to be missed,it's all about the sauce, service and genuine pride in the product they put out . Experience at the pizza oven instead of part-time after school kids makes this place consistantly my favorite spot for a great pizza. My first slice was 20 years ago . I've always personally picked mine up after calling in the order. They get busy, really busy so busy they had to start delivering after so many people wondered why they didn't? So depending on conditions, football, basketball, baseball or hockey season you could have a 45 min Eta... on your pie, just sayin.... The price? It's a few dollars more than the other 100 or so joints in this town but life's to short to eat production line 2 for 6.99 pizza....No offense I've just had enough of all that... stuff. I love this place it's that simple ... OK update * 5 stars folks it's New Year Eve and I called in a extra large 3 topping for a pickup,so 45 min wait I was told ....OK...tick tock ...43 min later I parked easily tonight it's usually not.. That pizza was being cut while I was grabbing some paper plates, parm & pepper packets & napkins and I was out the door then gently putting it in the backseat so I could still reach the box for a small slice for my 30 min drive back to the house, yep I drove from SFO to 3rd aatnd Clement st for a pizza...OK I had another stop to make too but I would drive an hour for this pizza.Go after 6pm they are the the crew that consistantly get it right.I can't vouch 4 the day crew but surely they must keep the standards high and look to the night crew to do the same. Another year gone bye and this pizza place is untouched from 21 years ago.Except for the price of my favorite pie.It has increased a whole $4 since 1998 and I'm good with that,so check this place out next time your in the...
Read moreTLDR: New Yorkers and Italians beware… 😅😅😅 not what you want when you’re craving italian or pizza!
Positives: customer services hospitality, work ethic, atmosphere all great for a no frills spot. You can tell everyone worked hard especially in the kitchen! so kudos to that!!
My husband and I are from NY but have been in SF for a decade. We finally tried this local spot expecting food and service quality like at Gaspare’s— mom and pop feel, no frills, home style dishes.
❣️ Sharing my honest and personal opinion. If you love this spot then yay! 👍🏼👍🏼 We felt misled by the other reviews on here so I’m hoping others will find this helpful!
Honest review:
Their take on calzones are unique; multiple sizes, you basically get a folded pizza, turned into another pizza? (pictured)
Pizza sauce was okay — we tried a classic pepperoni pie. It tasted like a Lunchables or frozen pizza.
Dough is fine.
We shared a baked penne and it lacked ricotta but overall was tasty. Nothing crazy.
I think the server could be more knowledgeable or caring about advice; we asked her about the calzone and couldn’t really say much i.e size recommendations.
Finally, it’s very pricy!! For the quality of the ingredients, overall taste and execution… shocking. But i get it - times are hard. Interesting that people say it’s family friendly? There’s a spot on Geary that also starts with a G ;) that is...
Read moreIf this is truly the pinnacle of San Francisco pizza, then I offer my condolences to every local taste bud currently in mourning. The pizza itself hovers somewhere between “forgettable cafeteria fare” and “microwave experiment gone wrong.” The location? Absolutely prime—too bad the interior ambiance transports you not to rustic charm, but rather to the olfactory experience of a 17th-century tavern that’s been marinating in spilled ale and regret for centuries.
For my first visit, I ordered two slices: one pepperoni, and one pepperoni with sausage. What arrived instead was pepperoni and… plain cheese. A bold reinterpretation of my order, certainly—some might call it culinary gaslighting. The young woman who served me, blonde ponytail and all, seemed friendly enough, though her smirk carried the quiet confidence of someone who knew I was about to regret every bite.
As for the atmosphere, let’s just say its proximity to what might as well have once been a horse stable feels eerily appropriate. All in all, this wasn’t so much a dining experience as it was a historical reenactment...
