"I recently visited the Habibi Lounge in San Francisco and had a disturbing experience. As an Asian brown person, I was shocked and upset to be assaulted by a staff member after simply asking for additional paper towels.
While the food and drinks were satisfactory, the DJ's music selection featured Arabic prayer songs, which didn't align with my expectations for a lounge environment.l
Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse when I asked our waiter for additional paper towels. Instead of accommodating my request, he called security, and I was confronted by a staff member wearing traditional Islamic attire. I was taken aback by the aggressive response, which left me feeling intimidated, disrespected, and assaulted.
I want to emphasize that this kind of behavior is unacceptable in San Francisco, a city that values diversity, inclusivity, and respect for all individuals. Every person deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, regardless of their race, ethnicity, or background.
Based on my experience, I would not recommend the Habibi Lounge to anyone who is not Islamic. The atmosphere and staff behavior seemed exclusive and unwelcoming to those outside of the Islamic faith.
I appreciate the kindness of another staff member, a black American, who apologized for the incident and showed genuine empathy.
I hope the management will take immediate action to address this incident, provide training on diversity and inclusion, and ensure that all patrons feel welcome, respected, and safe.
Update
"A restaurant that couldn't provide paper towels. It's unacceptable to be met with aggression and hostility when asking for something as basic as paper towels. This experience was a stark reminder that some establishments still have a lot to learn about customer service and respect.
But what's even more alarming is that the situation escalated to the point where my friend's eye got severely injured. This is completely unacceptable and inexcusable. No one should ever have to fear for their physical safety when visiting a restaurant.
Furthermore, this kind of behavior is particularly out of place in the San Francisco Bay Area, a region known for its diversity, inclusivity, and welcoming spirit. Residents and visitors alike expect to be treated with dignity and respect, regardless of their background or identity.
I hope the management takes immediate action to address this incident, provides adequate support and compensation to my injured friend, and takes concrete steps to prevent such incidents from happening in the future. This incident occurred on Friday, January 3rd, and involved an Asian male staff member in his 20s who initially provided us with only one paper towel. I think America...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at this lounge and I must say that the highlight of my visit was our server, Sara. From the moment we were seated, it was clear that we were in for an exceptional experience. Sara greeted us with a warm smile and a genuine enthusiasm that set the tone. Sara was attentive without being intrusive. She checked on us at just the right moments, ensuring our drinks were full and our plates were cleared promptly. Her timing was impeccable, and she seemed to anticipate our needs before we even had to voice them. It’s not often you find a server who strikes that perfect balance between being helpful and giving you space to enjoy your meal and drinks. One of the standout moments of the evening was when Sara learned that it was my birthday. She went above and beyond to make the occasion memorable, surprising us with a complimentary dessert and a heartfelt birthday greeting. This thoughtful gesture truly exemplified her commitment to providing outstanding service and creating a welcoming atmosphere. Sara’s enthusiasm and positivity were infectious, making the entire experience feel like a celebration. Her attention to detail and genuine care for her guests elevated our experience and left a lasting impression. Thank you, Sara, for making our evening so special! We can’t...
Read moreWe were looking for halal restaurant and came across habibi lounge on google. The reviews were really good and food looked decent too so we decided to give it a try. The area is not good. I didn’t feel safe walking around and when we arrived at the hotel the vibe was not what we thought it should be by looking at the google pictures. Our server Aya was great and provided great customer service, which was the only good thing about this visit. The food was not good at all. It all tasted like frozen food. I honestly feel bad writing a bad review but I really want the owner to pay attention to the quality of the food. The food needs to be improved.
Also I want to mention the whole time when we were at the restaurant there is one guy sleeping and snoring too loud that I could hear it all time. I asked server and she said it’s a customer. What kinda restaurant is that where customer is sleeping and snoring after eating and you are attending other patrons. I will not recommend this place to anyone. I’m sorry for leaving a bad review but I wanted to leave the honest review so that...
