I order the gyro wrap and feta fries every other month as I work nearby. I was always slightly concerned due to the area but rolled the dice anyway... WELL rolling the dice today was the absolute worst decision because after getting through a layer of fries, I found PURE GREEN/BLUE MOLD in the cheese!!! I'm considering forcing myself to purge so I don't suffer later because I have NO idea WHAT I just ate đ. NEVER AGAIN
UPDATE BASED ON BUSINESS REPLY: I have been coming here and ordering these fries for over a year and I have literally never ever seen a green color on them. There would have to be an inordinate amount of mint to make it green, and if so, why was only one patch was green out of the whole thing? This is what freaked me out and I can't imagine any person would not similarly question it... On top of that, the fries were definitely not fresh. They were quite soggy and tasteless and a huge disappointment as they are normally quite tasty and smell amazing.
RECOMMENDATION: The photo I posted was obviously not blurred. I used a flash and got super close so I could examine it even more closely on my phone than the naked eye could see. I would not do something like that to a small local business unless I was truly concerned about quality or safety. I definitely wouldn't falsify anything to that end either. What exactly would I get out of that? I can understand that you might be defensive because I am not happy with your product from this particular day, but "laughing" and telling me to "enjoy the top notch fries" is just plain disrespectful. I found a patch of green stuff in my fries and am posting this so others might see as well if it is useful for their information. If it's mint, and you want to differentiate your sauce from others, mix it thoroughly so it doesn't look like mold. You never got a complaint from me UNTIL THE DAY I FOUND GREEN STUFF IN MY FRIES. Look, feedback is a regular part of life. Nothing is perfect all the time. How we handle feedback and move forward is the most telling thing...
Read moreOkay, I admit, Iâm obsessed with this place (and itâs local for me too!)! â¤ď¸ If youâre looking for fresh, organic and DELICIOUS Mediterranean food, look no further than The Bite. As a native Detroiter who grew up in a city with some of the best authentic Mediterranean food on the planet, due to our beautiful blend of cultures, I am REALLY picky with my Mediterranean deliciousness.
My favorite is the worldâs juiciest chicken breast bowl. Okay, itâs not called that, but seriouslyâŚthis is the most delicious chicken breast youâll ever have! SO FLAVORFUL AND JUICY! 𤤠I canât finish this review without mentioning the falafel. Thereâs nothing worse than a dry, tooth-breaking, flavorless falafel (Iâve had so many I nearly gave up on falafel entirely). And letâs not even talk about the hidden gluten in most falafel. OUCH! The falafel from The Bite is not any of these. These just-moist-enough, packed-with-flavor, gluten free falafels (is it falafel or falafelS, plural?) are a game changer. And with the sauce?! đ Baby, youâre in for a treat! I canât resist, thatâs for sure.
Youâre ALSO in for a treat when you dine in at The Bite. The people who work there definitely take pride in providing excellent service, which you wouldnât expect for a walk up eating establishment in SOMA. My boyfriend and I are always so impressed with how we are catered to when we choose to dine in here (and we CHOOSE to, even though we are within blocks of home â thatâs how great the service and environment are!).
Moral of the story? Go there now and treat yourself to some of the most amazing food and staff youâll encounter in SOMA. You can...
Read moreLet me tell you something about The Bite SF. The owner Emre is such an amazing man. He was helping us right when we walked through the door. He helped us choose the best food options for 3 hungry coworkers.
We ended up choosing the grilled salmon rice bowl, grilled beef kebab, and chicken breast rice bowl and each was magnificently outstanding. I personally ordered the Grilled Chicken Breast which came in a 48 oz square compostable bowl. It was proportioned properly and the chicken was tender/juicy marinated with healthy herbs and spices, over basmati rice, and a house salad with feta cheese. And man âŚthey had their own house made orange sauce which they need to make a bottle of so people can buy and take home. SO BOMB. Everything was devoured and we ordered truffle fries to pair with our meals. What a delight!! I am craving it right now. The fries were so crispy, golden, and infused with the rich earthy flavor of truffle topped with cheese and cooked in olive oil. I also had a side of fresh strawberry lemonade juice that tasted very good.
Everything was fresh and flavorful. The Bite uses high quality ingredients. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming and the service was attentive without being overbearing.
If you are looking for a delicious, healthy Mediterranean cuisine, I HIGHLY recommend THE BITE SF. I for sure will be back to explore the menu and personally order...
