We stayed a total of 6 nights. Our room was a king bed with zero view (which didn't matter to us). It was on the small side, but functional. there isn't much storage space, but we were able to make it work. The room came stocked with an honor bar set up and we had them remove all of that on our first day. Staff came right away and took all of the items. Our room was spotless when we arrived, and it was cleaned each day. We did put up the "Do not disturb" sign a couple of days when we felt we really didn't need a cleaning. 10/10 for our room and the staff who kept it tidy!
The hotel is in a fantastic location that was convenient to many things that we wanted to see/do. As other people mentioned, it is walking distance to the cruise port. We were not on a cruise, but we walked to that area for our Alcatraz tour and we could have easily walked with our luggage for a cruise. Fisherman's Wharf was an easy walk as well. There is a bus stop right across the street from the hotel and the cable cars are in walking distance. We never felt unsafe in the area either. There is also a Trader Joes a block away and that's nice to buy some waters/snacks for the room! 10/10 location!
We rented the E-bikes one day and they were really neat to use. It is worth mentioning that there are no bike lock, or helmets available to use with them. It would be nice to have a lock available so that you could stop somewhere for lunch/drink and have the bike locked up. We enjoyed the bikes and it was very convenient to rent directly at our hotel and return there as well. You will be required to download an app the rent the bike and the hotel will provide a code for 1hr free (one bike). We used our bikes to bike the Golden Gate Bridge. It was a wonderful ride, but the bikes are heavy and somewhat difficult to manage in the wind going around the pillars on the bridge. The E-bike is super helpful for San Francisco hills. Total lifesaver. There is still enough of a workout though! Great experience with the bikes!
We stayed several days prior to and during some kind of convention (as another reviewer mentioned). The convention had the restaurant closed and the lobby. We were never told of this happening and it caught us by surprise when we went to visit the restaurant. I did speak with staff and they did help to make the situation right. I feel like we shouldn't have had to speak to someone though. Courtesy should have been extended to us knowing that we were staying there during this time. I am glad I spoke with the staff during our stay and that they were able to satisfactorily address our issue. I feel bad for anyone who didn't reach out though.
The resort fee is clearly stated in the booking and so I have no problems paying for that. I do feel like the daily restaurant credit that is included in this fee should be credited in one lump sum. They dispense the credit daily and if you don't use it, then you lose it. This policy seems unfair and should be revisited. The daily bike rental fee should work like this as well, but it too is a daily thing and if you don't use it, then you lose it. Just some food for thought and not a complaint.
We had a great stay and would easily recommend this hotel as a great place to stay during a visit to...
Read moreAs a business owner myself, I don’t like to go out of my way to leave Negative reviews on anyone’s business page. Because of the lack of concern from the hotel I found this situation appropriate to share here.
My husband and I just checked out of Hotel Zoe where we stayed for eight nights- our first S.F. trip. When we arrived and checked in they asked us for a C.C. For a $500 dollar hold. My husband gave his card and they swiped it & said that it had declined ... okay... swiped it again “sir it declined”. So I give my credit card while he calls discover thinking maybe discover thought it was fraud out of state. Discover says they did charge 500 once to his card and I also got charged once so in total it was 1000$ Hold on two cards. Okay, so we tell the front end people - the woman we’re nice enough but still had no other solution than to wait for the processor to re release the funds in about 10 days. Now we’re on vacation and 500$ is a lot of money! If we didn’t have other funds we would have been screwed on spending money. I tried to inquire 4 separate times while staying in the hotel with different staff members / managers. They just kept telling us they’d pass it off to the accounting department.
So - the hotel itself is clean and cute. The restaurant was pretty good and easy to access. Their parking (valet) in my opinion is kind of outrageous ( at 60 + tax per night), especially when they unrightfully just held 500$ from your vacation money. I wish the hotel was a little more private - you could hear everything from people’s rooms right in the hall way- kind of like a studio apartment building. As a smoker I also found it a little hard to find the right area to smoke, even outside the building.
Today at check out, I spoke with a different person at the desk and he was very abrupt about the money and acted as though it was no big deal that we still don’t have access to 500$ out of our money. I told him I would be disputing the charge myself when I get back to nj and he was like “okay yeah no big deal the only card I’m charging today is yours and it’ll be 863$!” I felt like all they cared about was charging my card and getting me out of there. I still don’t understand why they couldn’t have just refunded our money from there system like I can in my own company (which is a much smaller scale no less!)
Overall, we both felt kind of robbed by the hotel & if they would have had better customer service tactics maybe we wouldn’t have left...
Read moreI unfortunately experienced the most traumatizing thing during my 2 night stay at this hotel. I will say they did allow us an early check-in, the valet parking service was good, the "complimentary" coffee in the morning was good, the food in the adjacent restaurant was good as well.
On our second night around 0100 (this is an estimate as we were fast asleep), a man who presumably worked at the hotel opened our hotel door, without knocking, and announced we were supposed to have been checked out. I was in bed with my partner, "exposed" if you will, and was extremely disoriented. I said we are not checked out, we are sleeping. He proceeded to actually argue with us and even state he had security with him? It was an extremely confusing, jarring, and traumatic encounter. I had to argue with him back and forth for him to leave. I felt so uncomfortable the rest of the night and couldn't sleep. As a young woman I felt so vulnerable in those moments. I can't even imagine why this person wouldn't even knock before hand-or perhaps call the room? I also have no justification for why you would be checking that a room is empty in the middle of the night, why wouldn't housekeeping be aware of that in the afternoon after check out time. SO many questions. I let Jose know at the front desk the next morning, and while he listened, he stated it was " a training issue". I have worked in customer service many years, I'm uncertain what a training issue has to do with absolute common sense in the middle of the night. It makes me feel suspicious that something else was occuring unbenowst to me. He took off approx $60.00 of restaurant charges (we had $40.00 credit on top of that for our 2 night stay), and said he would follow up with the manager.
While I was tearfully explaining this to him, another young woman in the lobby overheard and said last night someone tried opening her room, they were jiggling her handle in the middle of the night. I am obviously unsure if this is related, but I would not recommend staying here based on this unfortunate circumstance. I left feeling very upset, very vulnerable, and...
