Kingdom of Dumpling — Restaurant in San Francisco

Visited recently and got the green beans, salt & pepper tofu, veggie ho fun, and egg & chive dumplings. While I wasn’t blown away by the food as they mostly serve the “can’t go wrong classics”, it was exactly the warm comfort meal I needed on a cold and cloudy SF day. When you step in the door, you’re transported to through time to the definition of an old school Chinese restaurant with limited seating and smells wafting from the kitchen.

The owner/front of house manager(?) does tend to upsell (ask if you want to also order a veggie or a noodle, etc.) - this happened to every single table when I was there. But the prices are reasonable and the food is good where I didn’t mind too much. Although just wanted to include that heads up as some others were definitely overwhelmed...

I have been coming here for quite a few years (before they changed their name), but the quality and variety of the assortment of dumplings, wontons, and other frozen delights has not changed. I have never been disappointed with the taste or quality of anything purchased here.

It's a strange thing to say, but the pandemic has actually improved the service here... they have really done a fantastic job of providing more than adequate social distancing. They have blocked the entrance with very long tables so that there is at least 20 feet between yourself and the friendly woman taking your order, and they have a big basket for you to put your money in to pay (Note that this is CASH ONLY), which you slide back and forth, and they package up your purchases very quickly and...

DO NOT ORDER THRU GOOGLE AT THIS LOCATION. This location doesn’t use online order at all and only serves raw food. The fact that the order system is available as soon as this location opens can be pretty deceiving. Their other location serves cooked food but don’t take order from this location. Imagine placed an order and wait for 50 min and nothing happens (they do automatically accept your order, making cancellation and refund impossible). Went there and found out you can’t have your food bc they don’t use Google system at all. If you don’t speak Chinese then picking up your food (even if they are raw) would be almost impossible. Staff there is fine, if you speak Chinese. To the owner: please cancel your Google order function if you are ever able...
