The 3 star rating is for their service and not their food. I have been coming to this place to to three times a week for about a year. If Angela is there I can pretty much expect The worst service imaginable. I am never greeted. Sometimes I stand there uncomfortably in the front of the restaurant, Clearly visible to the staff, for what seems like about a minute without even as much as an acknowledgment by any of the staff. In all fairness this does not happen when the male waiter is there (wish I knew his name/small place / same people every day ) just Angela. Lots of hello, goodbyes have a great day, nice to see you, thank you, for others that come and go from this restaurant and rarely as much as a smile or welcome to me, someone who regularly patronizes them. I was there this week where a man came in about 10 minutes or more after me and was served his food also about 10 minutes BEFORE me. Today they served me a soup without a spoon. I had to actually ask for a spoon! Keep in mind soup comes with the lunch special so it’s not like I’m ordering something out of the ordinary. hot tea cones with the order I also had to ask for it. Today I have finally decided to never come back to this place because it’s mind blowing to me and also extremely disappointing that a restaurant would treat me this way. Also it’s even more disappointing to me that I always felt the need to always tip despite the horrid service ( guilt). I guess I was tipping for the service I hoped to receive. Again I want to reiterate this treatment mostly comes from Angela. I am assuming ( as much as this disappoints me) it’s because I am African American ( wild guess/ no not really). I came to this conclusion as I’m in this restaurant eating by myself. I have a whole hour to observe everyone’s behavior and their interaction with their customers. This is a common theme for them for customers who are POC. I noticed their was a black gentleman today sitting with an Asian women’s : same behavior. They interacted and addressed her and rarely this gentleman. It was so blatantly obvious it was disturbing the level of disrespect. I’m sure this restaurant will not take this as constructive criticism but for the love of...
Read moreIt's a very nice cozy place for some Japanese dishes and sushi. I highly recommend their clam ramen as it is a very unique dish that is special to this restaurant. For this dish they serve you a ridiculously large amount of clams in a bowl of heavenly, savory ramen broth with strong hints of ginger. As for the sushi rolls, nothing really stands out from the sushi but that's not a bad thing considering all the other amazing items on the menu. Such as their dinner plates. For example their Fried mackerel really hits the spot with its crispy exterior, soft fluffy interior, and generous side of peas and bean sprouts and comes with miso soup too. They also offer a large variety of combo trays for sushi that would easily serve and satisfy large parties. Lastly I would also recommend their dozen oysters, that come with topped with fish eggs along with optional Japanese sauce (forgot the name) and lemon.
As for the staff, the chef is always greeting and saying goodbye to everyone from his cook station near the front of house and is a very lovable man. The waiters and waitresses are extremely attentive and friendly too. I'm very glad I found this place. Would highly recommend, a true San...
Read moreI went to this restaurant for the first time today with a friend. I ordered a combo dinner and my friend ordered a medley of appetizers and unique sushi. We had two major problems: one, there was a metal piece in my salad, which I immediately showed to the waiter. Second, my friends order was not as described. The item was removed from my friends order, but no other effort was made to comp her meal order or simply offer some other comped nigiri.
When I got my bill, I asked the waiter if he was sure that he wanted to bill me the full amount, which i don’t even think I should have to ask. He went to check with The owner, and came back with a $3 comp of my total bill. It was insulting and terrible service (I work in the food industry and know how this works). I will never go back and do not recommend this place to anyone who values their health (what if I had swallowed that small metal sliver?) or values service in their restaurants. I’m only sorry that I didn’t think to take a picture of the...
