My current 3-star rank is all about the brunch, dinner might be a better idea. Let's start with the bottom line first
The good Mimosas were great Quiche was very generous. Huge dishes overall
The bad Eggs Benedict - I usually complain that I'm given way too much Hollandaise sauce, in this case, it was almost non-existent, which made the whole thing very dry. Eggs were overcooked, and the potatoes on the side were most probably microwave re-heated or at least didn't feel fresh French toast was dry and very mediocre. I think this was the first time I didn't mind sharing one with others. Pizza - It's an Italian place, so we had high expectations - Very meh. Just a very mediocre, regular pizza. Nothing to write home about. Service - We were five people, with five different brunch orders and it took about 25-30 minutes until we got our order. We were not too hungry, so that was fine, but we did get to the point in the conversation when you begin to ask yourselves "where is our food" and look around.
It's an OK brunch, but with the high number of other, better brunches you have in the city, I would advise against getting one here. The place itself is nice, and the crowd was older from I usually encounter in other locations. That's not a bad thing, of course, just an observation. While I might come back and try the dinner service, I won't be coming back...
Read moreA disappointing experience. My first time. I ordered the smoked trout and fettuccine. With Caesar salad. The salad was not a true Caesar. It was served with whole leaf romaine. Cheap cheese. Not the right blend of dressing ingredients. The trout entree was a plate of fettuccine. I could barely find the trout, which was little flakes of overly smoked trout. I’m not sure it was trout because the smoked flavor was overwhelming and cancelled any sweetness or natural flavor of the trout. It was prepared with lemon, basil, and a green pepper. Again the peppers which were supposed to be mild was very hot and again overwhelmed any citrus or basil flavor. Fettuccine was not fresh made. They served Hawaiian roles instead of fresh baked bread. I had the Cab Franc. Again. A disappointing choice. I think it was old. It had a peculiar note that smelled like a chemical, not oak or berry. Just a terribly high priced meal with the wrong combinations of flavor or compliment. I do not recommend. Nothing Italian about the meal- maybe...
Read moreservice. Everyone was very kind and warm. The ambiance is beautiful as well, nice lights and greenery. We were greeted promptly and with professionalism. The seats on the outdoor patio are incredibly uncomfortable and are not friendly for wide hips. They have no vegetarian options with the exception of bread, drinks, olives, and cheese. We were informed that all their salads and pastas could be made without meat, but paying 30 for a dish that is priced knowing the cost of meat, without a veggie substitution was not something we thought worked for us. Our waiter recommended the Arancini and it was absolutely delicious. Great aioli, the cheese was fresh and not overpowering. The focaccia was fluffy and paired well with the olive oil too. I only didn’t give 5 stars due to the lack of options and also the chairs. If we choose to come back for their brunch menu, I...
