I’ve been coming to Susiecakes in Laurel Village for a couple of years now, usually before or after my UCSF doctor’s appointments across the street. It’s become my little ritual—because honestly, I deserve a sweet treat that makes me happy!
From the very first visit, I felt like more than just a customer. The manager, Dina, is absolutely fabulous—she runs the shop with so much heart and manages a team that’s equally wonderful. Every single person behind the counter, from the bakers to the cashiers, goes above and beyond daily. Some of my personal heroes here are Lisandra, Jenn, Ricky, Mo, and Sydnie. They know me by name, welcome me with smiles, and always make me feel like part of the Susiecakes family.
The cakes? Pure heaven. My go-to favorites are the triple layer chocolate cake with extra cream cheese on the side (yes, for dipping!) and the cream cheesecake with an extra layer of cream cheese—both truly decadent. Thanks to recommendations from Sydnie, Ricky, and Lisandra, I’ve also fallen in love with the carrot cake (customized with extra frosting) and the celebration cake. Every bite is moist, rich, and—dare I say—absolutely orgasmic!
But what makes this location special isn’t just the sweets—it’s the people. The team has the perfect blend of warmth, humor, and professionalism, and they always make me laugh (even when my humor leans a little inappropriate!). Honestly, I’ve joked about wanting to recruit them into my own field of work, but then I’d miss seeing them here every time I come in for cake.
Bottom line: Susiecakes Laurel Village isn’t just a bakery—it’s family. Dina and her incredible crew make every visit memorable, and the cakes keep me coming back for more. Highly, highly recommend!

Read moreIt was an exhaustingly hot day in San Francisco. Me and my girlfriend were trying to reach the Golden Gate Bridge with just a few bus rides and lots of walking. Maybe too much walking. We had planned our visit to Susie Cake, of course, and we arrived there with the will to just take a sweet bite of cake and then continue in pursuing our way to the bridge. The staff welcomed us with joy and kindness, that instantly become enthusiasm when they apprehended we were visiting from Rome, Italy: they gave us two GIANT cookies as a welcome gift! We then chosen a slice of Red Velvet cake and one of Celebration Cake; they gave us an extra slice of Celebration cake, because the girl said the first slice she had cut for us was too thin (!). So now we got this big bag full of sweets and we’re kinda embarrassed but excited as well. We now have to go to the Bridge with this bag; we sit outside on a bench and we start to eat the first absolutely-not-thin slice of Celebration Cake. It’s delicious. It’s very sweet but it’s also addictive: you have to take the next bite, and the next after that and… We ate just the half of it and we took the other part to home, with the cookies (we would have eaten them for breakfast the next mornings) and the Red Velvet (we would’ve eaten that baby the same night as a sweet treat after dinner). All that just to say this is a magical...
Read moreI LOVE Susiecakes - so much so that I request it for my birthday every year.
This year, my brother got me both the coconut cake & the red velvet cake and somehow… the cakes were both dry and oddly crumbly. The frosting on the red velvet was also less cream-cheesy than usual. I wonder if something happened in the prep or refrigeration process that degraded the texture and moisture of the cake.
Truly I am in disbelief because Susiecakes NEVER misses - I have been eating their cakes for over a decade at this point and have never been disappointed until today. I will mention that in the past, we’ve always ordered from the Marina location and have never had an issue, so not sure if this is a location-specific challenge.
Regardless, feeling a bit bad we spent over $100 on two cakes we definitely...
