I recently visited here for their advertised all-you-can-eat shabu featuring American Wagyu beef for lunch as $29, and I was incredibly disappointed. What I received was not what I expected; the American Wagyu beef was mostly fat, with only a small amount of actual meat.
When we brought this up to the only server, an older lady, she had a very dismissive attitude. She insisted that the American Wagyu is supposed to be mostly fat and it’s called “Marble”, and if we didn't want that, we shouldn't order it anymore. This was shocking to me, as I've enjoyed American Wagyu at many other places and never experienced such an overwhelming fat-to-meat ratio. As my experiences Shabu lover i never seen this American Wagyu with that much fat and it’s definitely not “Marble”.
She warned us that if we left anything, there would be a 25% fee at the beginning. We arrived at 1 PM, and about 40 minutes later, she said it was our last call to order anything. As she mentioned about the percentage of fat in the American Wagyu beef, we decided not to order any more beef until the end which is the main reason we came.
I’ve seen reviews mentioning her bad attitude, but I thought I’d give it a shot anyway. Unfortunately, my experience confirmed those warnings. It felt like false advertising, and I left feeling cheated. If you're looking for quality of American Wagyu, I highly recommend looking elsewhere. Save your time and money!
Please look at the photos of the “American Wagyu beef” for your attention. This is definitely misleading advertising as AYCE American Wagyu “.
I will report this to the City of San Francisco Health Department due to the meat quality, as 90% fat and only 10% meat for the long term could lead to serious health issues and misleading advertising.
We definitely won’t recommend or come back for the food quality and the terrible customer service experiences.
To the owner: The elderly server will harm your business's reputation. I have great respect for older individuals who continue to work, but I can tell that this lady is unhappy in her job.
We understand there are different parts of the cut, but if you serve the customer 90% fat and only 10% actual meat, it is not considered meat; instead, you are selling fat. You should not even be selling those cuts to customers who paid for "American Wagyu beef," only to receive what feels more like "American Wagyu Fat."
There are many restaurants in the Bay Area that serve American, Australian, and A5 Wagyu beef, and we have tried them all. This is the first time we have felt truly cheated. If you think $29 for AYCE is not profitable, then you should not advertise to attract customers and sell "American Wagyu Fat."
We didn't even eat the beef; instead, we asked the elderly lady to take it back because it was too fatty, and we were concerned about our health.
Thank you, We will not support this kind of...
Read moreI walked by and stopped to try this place on Friday at 11.30 am. and very disappointed ! The server has some attitude since I walked in but I thought it’s ok. Only 1 table 2 people in the restaurant.
The lady server came and asked, I said only me she said ok which one ? I asked do you have lunch specials only or do you have another menu? She said yes which one? Mini pot or big pot with her attitude that I almost walk out. But I also super hungry. I asked to see menu it’s my first time. Then I decided for AYCE premium waygu $68. She walked me to counter bar and said other side have reservations so have to sit here.
Then I ordered , she said only 3 meats at the time. 2 appetizer and sides. So I ordered then more people as a group coming in and I almost finished my meats , you can see in pics that not much meats. And I don’t have much time so I want to order more , eat and leave. But she not really care. I put the meats in the pot and left there fews second but she walked to me and said you should just dip piece by piece only 5 seconds , if you left like this the meat will be chewy! Ok. Thank you I told her. And I ordered more meats. The A5 is good 👍. Then I tried to finish my meats to order more. And now the counter bar is full and still only 1 server. I had to wait to order for a while. And she just walked pass me. I said can I order more and she just said will be right back.
At the end she came and said last call. So I ordered 2 more meats and she said are you sure if you left food will be 20% charge!
First of all, I know the rule for all AYCE and I always finished it. And normally I eat a lot of meats 🤣 She might think I won’t finish it but I will and I didn’t order that much because she not really came by and I cant order much.
Others people that came in order mini pot only the table and me that order big pot.
At the end I asked for bill and she came so quick with the machine to pay, she just standing there I put the survey about bad service. And she looked at it when I gave her back the machine and said loudly “Am I that bad?” And all customers looked at me. I wanted to say I paid over $70 what do you think? But I didn’t say that I just said because she told me to do this and do that. And I walked out.
This is my only time that I ordered not much. Only 10 trays.
I’m sorry that I eat too I feel like she doesn’t want me to order more.
The soup Sukiyaki is very blended, no flavor at all. It likes they put more water in the soup only can see color. The meats quality is ok. I really like A5.
Only not...
Read moreI came here with reservations for 7 for our annual Secret Santa exchange. One of us couldn’t make it so we were able to downsize to 6. Originally they weren’t able to seat all of us at one table so we had two, but we didn’t want to be separated so we made their largest table fit 6 people. We appreciated their help in accommodating our ask and everything went fairly smoothly and they were super nice about it. We ordered the 11 course prix fixe (split between 2) and it was definitely more than enough food. Lots of appetizers to start (mostly raw wagyu and seafood) and they were able to accommodate by cooking them a bit more for those who were pregnant at the table. The mackerel was probably our least favorite as it was very fishy in taste and smell. The garlic edamame was tasty but a bit on the saltier end too. We also got to select half/half soup bases: golden chicken and tom yum. I must share, their soup was the highlight of the meal. So tasty and rich in flavor! I’d come back again just for the broth! Meat quality was also fairly good. Another favorite and unique thing of the meal was the yuzu dipping sauce, yum! Who would have thought it would pair well with the meats?! The dessert at the end was underwhelming from the meal but it was fine since it’s not meant to be the star or the show. Overall, great experience and would love to come back and experience with my husband. On the pricier side but worth trying! The total ended up being $128 per person including...
