NOTE: Edited below.
The food was average at best. We had the restaurant week brunch buffet. The crab sandwich was extremely salty, the croissant was dry, the fried chicken and the scrambled eggs weren’t seasoned well at all. The service was terrible. We were given small starter plates and were never offered new plates after using them, which was extremely concerning wrt cross contamination. I ordered bottomless mimosas and my friend had a taste of my drink, and they came up to us and told us that they would be charging us for 2 bottomless mimosas. Their menu did not mention that tasting / taking a sip was not allowed. When we denied that my friend wasn’t drinking from my glass and had just taken a sip, they said they checked the cameras, which didn’t sit right with us. It really soured our brunch.
I wouldn’t recommend this brunch at all.
Edit: Response to the restaurant reply below
Your thinly veiled preconceived notions about us are really shining through here. A few responses:
We finished multiple plates of food because we had to in order to be able to go get more food- there were no visible bins nearby to even clear our plates of food scraps and we were NEVER OFFERED new plates. We had to ASK for a new plate (which happened ONCE, not often as you claim).
My friend that you claimed was also going to drink the bottomless mimosa had specifically stated before we ordered that he did not feel like getting a drink. I offered him a SIP (which he accepted) but I did not realize the placement of my glass and this small gesture would result in so much suspicion from the restaurant owner/staff. These unfounded assumptions and the fact that he came to us and confronted us after checking the CAMERAS left a very poor impression on us. If you had an issue after noticing, you could have told us instantly and we would have apologized after realizing you were so strict about offering a sip to a friend. To be CRYSTAL CLEAR, we did not intend to share one bottomless mimosa, and there was no “ruse”. This assumption (and the subsequent checking of cameras) is rude, wrong, and frankly discriminatory.
After we were bullied into ordering the second mimosa, my friend (who is a PhD student at UCSF and doesn’t make a tech salary like the rest of us at the table) matched my number of drinks to keep me company and get some bang for his buck.
P.s. sharing a sip of a cocktail/drink or a bite of your meal with a close friend or partner is NOT equivalent to cross contamination.
Service for the water was fine, but to reiterate the points above, our experiences were soured in large part due to the handling of the mimosa situation. I assumed we’d only be tipping for the mimosas since the buffet was obviously self-serve and also prepaid. I did tip 12.5% which is lower than I normally would due to the soured experience.
To conclude, we did not try to steal from you, we did not lie to you about it, we did not tip very much, and wrote a truthful review about our experience. Thanks anyway for the condescending and untruthful response in which you display your bias for...
Read moreThis place has been on my list for a while, and the perfect opportunity came up to try it with a couple colleagues for SF Restaurant Week. Unfortunately, one of my colleagues was unable to make it on the last day of Restaurant Week, so we decided to go for happy hour the Monday after. I was the first of my party to arrive, and although Resy only allowed me to select an outdoor table for the reservation, the staff were able to accommodate us at a nice table inside away from the live band so that it wouldn’t be too loud.
Much to our delight, the Restaurant Week menu was still available the Monday after! We all opted to order the set meal off the special menu, and each of us got the 8 oz ribeye steak as our entree. We also got the half-glass wine pairings to accompany the entree and dessert courses. Everything was delicious! We were very satisfied, and the best part is we were informed the steak is on their regular menu in case we want to order it again sometime!
The staff provided exceptional service throughout the meal and after. They checked on us regularly and ensured our water glasses were never empty. Even after we finished the meal and paid, they didn’t rush us as we lingered a while to continue our conversation. This place far exceeded my expectations, and I look forward to coming again for more great...
Read moreIt’s a disappointment for me to write this review but I was very bothered from our last visit to Scopo Divino. We pre-paid for the Valentine’s Day dinner, which was $60 per person and we were required to leave gratuity amongst making the reservation (I have never had to leave a tip before I even get the service?). Our reservation was 8:30 PM and we arrived at 8:39 because of issues with our Uber driver. We called to let them know we would be running 10 minutes late. They were not kind on the phone. When we arrived, the host made it very clear we should be eating and leaving quickly by saying “you are the last table of the night” multiple times. Why take a 8:30 reservation if we will be rushed to leave? The set menu we pre-paid for were out of both the lobster risotto and beignets. Two items we were excited for and expected when we were required to pre pay for the entire meal. The website clearly listed that the kitchen is open until 9:30 which is fine, but the “After Hours” until 11 PM is incorrect as we were rushed out of the restaurant at 9:45. We asked the host if they are open until 11 PM as listed and he said “yeah, on a normal night”. Is a Friday not a normal night? The food and wine is excellent but the poor service and attitude is...
