I LOVE this lil spot. It's not like the greatest Mexican food, but I'm from LA and that's not a humble brag it's a matter of proximity and culture. I've been real disappointed since I moved here in the choices for acceptable Latino food, excepting a few spots.
This is one of them, not just because it's around the corner, not just because of the absolutely warmth the staff meets me with on appearance, but because it's pretty friggin tasty.
I think I got a minor stomach bug once to be completely honest. But I've gone back. Take that as you will.
Specifically: The salsas are tasty as heck. The nachos are LOADED and the selection of meats is diverse, with fantastic pollo verde y rojo; birria; camarones - todo lo que quieres, amor. The quesadillas are PROPERLY STUFFED and also, for lack of a more descriptive explanation, just darn tasty. Friend got the super tacos one time and them tacos was SUPER. Absolutely stacked.
I will say - as far as a burrito mojado goes, I DO wish they were just a bit more mojado. But that's just my typa burrito.
Do yourself a favor and get an agua fresca or a corona and have a little seat in the modest dining area. It's not such a bad place for a good chill. And it's a good place for a...
Read moreI will remove this review after hearing back from management about ruining San Francisco burritos with adding lettuce. It should never be added unless requested! I threw away my super burrito because I found soggy mushy stringy lettuce all up in my bite! Lettuce is meant to be crisp! Otherwise you have ruined a perfectly good burrito! Especially on take-out orders! No that lettuce will not feel good in your mouth, it will feel like slimy eels by the time you get home. No self respecting SF burrito spot just puts lettuce in. Please stop, you are giving a "City" burrito a bad, bad name! You are also wasting money adding it, save it for the tortas!
Chefs are the best, and we used to be able to visit them to order, but now you are caught off guard with them adding lettuce by ordering at the register. Before you waited and chose what to...
Read moreTheir burritos are very hit-or-miss. I’ve had 9/10 burritos here, and I’ve had 6/10 burritos here. Based on both size and flavoring of the meat. For $16, I should get a hefty “super” burrito. A few times, it has been. Others, it’s somewhat small. I enjoy the chorizo, but I had pollo verde one night that had no flavor. I eat a burrito every day. I’ve eaten them all over the country. I can find 10/10, large burritos in Daly City, San Bruno, South City for $12. I’m willing to pay $16 for one here for the location, but it should be large and flavorful every time. It’s not. I don’t feel confident coming back here and getting my money’s worth, so I...
