I was really craving steak and came across this place on Google. Was reading the reviews and they seemed pretty fine. So I decided to go ahead and go. Upon arrival, I didn’t receive the warm welcome like I usually would at any other restaurant. I was just told to go and pick a seat. It seemed like this restaurant is more like a cafeteria than an actual restaurant, as you have to go up to the register yourself and order your food and pay there before you even get to eat. I ordered dad‘s famous steak with the baked potato and it came with a side salad, bread, and a drink of your choice. I then proceeded to ask what’s on the baked potato and she said only butter. It was about five dollars extra to add any toppings. I found that kind of weird because usually when you think of a baked potato and at least comes with sour cream and cheese on it. For that whole meal, it was about $38. I asked for my stake well done and it came back very pink and bloody. I had to send it back to the kitchen and it came back very charred, unflavored, full and very, very greasy to them putting a lot of butter on it. And when I cut into it, it was still pink! Very unsatisfactory and ruined my appetite for steak that night.
My friend ordered the exact same thing, but she ordered her steak, medium rare. Hers came out, damn near, not even cooked. Very bloody and we did not even eat the steak at all. There was no flavor in it. The only thing we really ate was the salad, baked potato, and the bread. In my opinion is not worth $38 at all. Then they give you a little Side container of hot sauce not even a real bottle at this supposed to sit down restaurant.
I don’t think I’ll be coming back here as the service was not all that. The salad was a little brown and it was basic cafeteria school salad. The steak looked like it was frozen because it had the same char and shape as my friends and...
Read moreLast time I ate here it was in a different location and possibly under different management. This location is right next to a parking garage which is really convenient. The atmosphere is really nice and cozy. When you walk in you see them grilling on the left. You place your order upfront (all payments accepted). They have either the ny strip or ribeye. They have chicken too. The ordering process is efficient. Place your order (which comes with two sides of your choice), pay and be provided a numbered pager and tray with anything that's already ready. Now choose your seat and a server will bring your meal to your table. So in that aspect it's a good system.
Now where it falls short... let's start by saying I am really accustomed to Tads Steakhouse since I was a child. Growing up we had 3 in NYC! In which I've dined at all of them over the years. Sadly, that era has come to an end and they are no more .
Now, when they served you a steak they would top it with an au just sauce (no steak sauce needed) and MELTED butter! But here, there is no au jus sauce and definitely no melted butter (blasphemous lol). They do however offer regular butter and garlic butter to top the steak.
Also, NYC Tad's provides you with a long buttery piece of garlic bread which had the right amount of salted butter flavor. This place gives you "garlic" bread which seems to lack any real garlic butter flavor... and let me reiterate, NO MELTED BUTTER to pour over it... sigh lmao...
I don't know.. is it too hard to create a nice natural sauce topping from beef juice? Is it too hard to melt butter and have it on the side in case others may like it drizzled on their steak and/or bread.
Perhaps I'm a spoiled New Yorker but I believe others would also enjoy this and this spot would be even better...
Read moreIf I could give a lower score, I would. Poor customer service, never had the chance to even eat my meal since I had to return it twice. Only gave me a partial refund. The guy at the register had zero customer service. I’ve placed an order for a medium well steak. I received my order and when I cut into my steak it was under cooked. I brought it back to have another steak cooked how I ordered, but sadly for the second time it was under cooked. When I spoke to the guy with no customer service, he didn’t refund me my full receipt. My receipt was for $28.64 and he only refunded me $24.31. He said he was not refunding me the full amount since I ate my side salad. He then proceeds to tell me that “he wasn’t the one that cooked my food”. When asked to speak to a manager he told me that the manager was not in and that he was the one in charge. I did not get to eat my food due to the cook under cooking my meal and this is how he conducted himself along with short changing my refund by $4.33. Still trying to contact the manager, but every time I call I cannot get management on the phone. Its sad when you have individuals with poor professionalism & customer service working for your establishment. Food prep area was also not the cleanliness of areas. I'm sure if the Food/Health inspector were to do a pop up, they will have issues with...
