We walked into Tala's inviting wine bar and were quickly enjoying aged Muscadet served "en magnum" and a snack plate of Castelvetrano olives, real Fontina cheese, and dates, all for an extremely affordable price. The proprietress ran a natural wine shop before and has a variety of carefully selected wines by the glass, and at retail pricing plus $10 for the bottle. We tried a vibrant Macon chardonnay, a St. Chinian from the Languedoc, and an Italian barbera and then got a bottle of Mosel Kabinett Trocken on blue slate. If you like your wines natural and with plenty of food-friendly acidity, it's heaven. Let Tala guide you if you don't see something you like right away. Decor is charming, plenty of late summer light, vibe is extremely chill. The bathroom is large, clean, with grab bars, and accessible without any steps from the street. Starting at 6 there was live music from Three Flower Jam, and we ordered in DoorDash for dinner (outside food is permitted). Overall it reminded me of a German wine bar, the feeling of Gemütlichkeit (cozy, communal happiness) was in the air.

Sooo excited to have this new wine bar in the neighborhood! Love the vibes and decor inside, great affordable prices, delicious wine, and snacks. It's "seat yourself" (at first I wasn't sure if you had to wait to be seated, might be helpful to have a sign). On Fridays they do winemaker tastings! It was only $15 for a tasting flight and was delicious! I'll definitely be back for future Fridays. They're prepping an event space upstairs as well so looking forward to that too. Update: still come here regularly! $20 wine tastings. Don't question, just do the tasting. Tala knows wine. Never had a wine I didn't like here.

Beautiful wine bar in the Excelsior with a thoughtfully curated selection and frequent pop up events. Tala herself is great - humorous, hardworking, and community-driven. We would recommend this spot to anyone!

This is truly a unique gem in the Excelsior and San Francisco as a whole. If you’re not familiar with the Excelsior, we have quite a few gems so check the neighborhood out!

Tala is a natural wine bar which is refreshing in a region so familiar with wine country. The natural aspect adds a fun twist to any palate (you’d be surprised!)

They have themed nights with flights. It’s a great chance to check out different varietals and regions. Who else does this?! Expand your horizons…

As of now, Thursday is a “blind” tasting complete with brown bag bottles. You get a map, your senses, and sommeliers who encourage you to scratch your wine brain. Friday is a guest sommelier or wine veteran who specializes in the wines being served. It’s a unique way to try wines you’d never think about.

You can always buy a bottle and drink it there with a standard, affordable corkage fee. If Tala is around, she’s a wealth of knowledge and will steer you in the right direction. Lauren is a breath of fresh air from other places. I love her candid and encouraging demeanor when trying new wines.

They usually have some single bottles open for by-the-glass purchases.

They recently got an entertainment license so expect even more from the space! Live music, events, shows, and more.

The prices are ludicrous for SF.

Wine not your thing? They have so many amazing beers from local breweries like Barebottle, Laughing Monk, and more.

Alcohol not your thing? They have coffee, tea, and non-alcoholic beverages as well. The food plates are always worth it too.

They offer carry-out and wine club memberships as well. It’s really a one-stop shop here in the E, and I’m so happy to have them here.

Dogs are allowed, depending on the food offerings there can be vegetarian options, and since they have a specific license, under 21 is...

I try to go weekly to Tala because both Tala and Adela are incredibly welcoming. I am not someone who is usually comfortable going by myself to grab a drink, but at Tala it is not an issue. It is a welcoming wine bar and very representative of the neighborhood. I always go for any sparkling wine and the conversation is always great! Every so often I run into neighborhood locals and reminiscing is so fun. I have also met newcomers to the neighborhood and I find that they see the Excelsior for what it is-unique, welcoming, and open-minded. Yes, we are and more!!! I value this neighborhood because I grew up here and I have also opened up a business here. I own Love and Light Yoga and Tala and I support each other’s businesses. If you are a native of the neighborhood or are new to the neighborhood, we are here for you and depend on your support to continue offering you a unique neighborhood experience. Cheers to the Excelsior and to...
