I don’t often write reviews, especially not negative ones, but I was so disappointed by my experience here.
This was THE blandest meal I have ever eaten. I ordered a coffee, then an iced tea and the NY steak (medium-rare) with mashed potatoes. The steak had zero seasoning on it, not even salt and pepper. It was also undercooked. The mashed potatoes were flavorless, except for the gravy - which was pretty boring too. It also came with veggies...that looked like the same “Mixed Vegetable” blend that you can buy frozen at Costco: corn, peas, green beans, and carrot chunks. Which, by the way, also flavorless. The coffee was okay, but small mug (I guess to be expected from a diner). The iced tea had a lemon-y flavor, but no lemon in sight.
The only somewhat redeeming quality was the portion size for the price. Even the service was spotty, despite it being pretty slow and after the brunch/lunch crowd time (I arrived about 1:30pm). Based on reading some other reviews, I guess this is a popular local spot, so it’s possible I just ordered the “wrong” thing for a neighborhood diner. But still, I was severely...
Read moreGreat place to meet friends for breakfast. We met up on a Monday morning at 9:30 and this place was pretty busy, not full, but busy enough to keep the staff running round, pour coffee, taking orders, and serving food. Members of our group arrived at different times, every time they saw a new person sit down, they asked if you wanted coffee, the answer was always yes, followed by the menu and utensils. I got the biscuit and gravy, it's ok, the gravy was missing nice chunks of sausage, it always came with two eggs and either sausage or bacon. Their bacon could be a tad bit crispy, but it's still pretty good. My friend got the chicken fried steak, which looked really good, someone else got the Louie special which is kind of the kitchen sink of omelettes, there were other dishes but was too busy talking to remember. The coffee keeps coming. The service is good considering we only saw two people waiting/bussing for the whole restaurant. What we really like was he gave the total of each person, so we didn't have to figure out what everyone owed. It was easier just to put down...
Read moreThis place is unassuming but surprising. When we were staying for a week nearby, I almost passed it up because from its exterior did not look like much. I am glad I didn't.
The diner-stye interior is nothing fancy but they do classics really well. My husband had french toast with 2 over easy eggs and sausages on the side. The sausages were juicy and full of flavor. The eggs were done perfectly and made a great pairing for the french toast with maple syrup. The only lackluster item were the hash browns which did not have as much flavor but we realized we should have had it with the eggs and toast vs on its own.
What's interesting is that this place also serves non-traditional items such as ox tail stew, which I tried. The meat was super tender and very tasty.
The whole vibe of the place is like the long-standing community spot. Looked like it had many regulars who had been...
