One is actually a high score for this experience.
We ordered from Uber Eats. We ordered dairy free because my wife is lactose intolerant and the restaurant owner called us. Unfortunately all the tomato sauces have cheese melted in. We asked to cancel and the owner agreed to try. This was all great and we were sorry to miss out on a highly rated SF pizza restaurant that didn't have Michelin 3 star prices.
After navigating the Uber Eats dysfunctional web site, we were only able to cancel by logging into the app on a mobile device. Clearly this is made as difficult for as possible by Uber and there's no way to dispute charges. So we disputed the credit card charges, initially to no avail.
Here's the punchline: Uber misappropriated my $50 bucks without delivery, customer support, dispute processes or minimum ethics standards. I was naive to think the Gig Economy Oligarchy would observe common ethical rules.
Maybe Uber can add some new menu suggestions: the Gotcha pizza The Uber No Eats pizza
4/6/2022 Update: I filed a complaint on the Citi Card dispute investigation to the federal Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and Better Business Bureau. Citi issued a refund after I was able to get copies of my call logs. I filed a complaint about Uber Eats fraudulent business practices to the California Attorney General. Uber chose to continue...
Read moreIn the busy, bustling Mission district, is a gem of a pizza shop - The Pizza Shop, a hole in the wall mostly take-out place with a big heart.
It has minimalistic decor, a simple display case with 20 kinds of pizza. You can order a slice or a whole pie. The friendly crew behind the counter will bake it to perfection within minutes.
Think NYC thin crust, from classic cheese to the deluxe with pepperoni, sausage, onion, mushroom, green pepper, and black olive. Simple toppings, baked to a crisp.
If you prefer to eat while its hot off the pizza makers oven, there is limited seating. Since most people order slices, you can get a seat within minutes.
Vegetarians have 6+ choices, and Carnivores have a plethora of options also. Slices start at $3 for the cheese and $4+ for the speciality pies.
The only downside is that this place is Cash only, so have at least 5 bucks on you to grab a slice.
While the pizza shop's crust isn't as flavorful as the Mill or Arizmendi, it holds fort on the # of choices that will satisfy any flavor that you are craving.
If you are in the mission, this is a great option for a quick, 'cheap' (come on this...
Read moreI simultaneously appreciate yet dislike this place. I'm from the East Coast originally, and I love pizza. I moved to the Mission recently and live pretty close, so I gave this place a shot (before COVID). Yes their pizza is great (as good as it gets for SF). But I think they raised prices since some of these reviews were written? Its $5 / slice for everything except cheese, which is outrageous IMO. My old place on Nob Hill was like $4.50 / slice, which I thought was steep but still (just barely) tolerated. Needless to say on the East Coast an entire pizza of similar size & quality is like $18, a full $10 cheaper than most of the pies here.
Anyhow, its not really their fault but $5 / slice is too crazy for me no matter how good it is. Wish SF had the kind of environment where pizza places could price things reasonably and flourish. In the meantime, I've gone back to making my own pizza since its far more affordable. If I actually need a quick bite I'll get a...
