A little surprised by all the high reviews, but maybe it was just what I ordered. I just wanted a small breakfast so I had shrimp chive dumplings and a chicken bun. Reasonable prices ~$1.50+ per dumpling. The chicken bun was cold. Bread ratio was high to meat, which was bland. I got a huge cartilage chunk and had to spit it out. I prefer the shrimp chive dumplings at Wong Lee bakery. This one the shrimp wasn't whole (more minced), the chive flavor wasn't strong, and the dough was quite thick. I would go back here, but only for a hot rice meal. The eggplant looked incredible. I regret not ordering that. For buns and dumplings, there are better bakeries.

Every time I stop by this place,I pick up 1 or 2 of their baked char siu bao. I usually finish them before I can walk 2 or 3 blocks away but hey they're meant to be enjoyed. It's not a typical char siu bao because this one has a sweet soft white crust on top that's almost reminiscent of a pineapple buns top. It costs $2 each and it's worth a try if you want to experience a variant on the char siu bao. The ladies working there are friendly and efficient. It's a small shop so it's best as a grab and go place.

We stopped here to pick up dim sum on our way to the San Francisco Airport. It was really good even though we visited at the end of the day. For those that don't know, dim sum is a breakfast/ brunch meal of various dumplings and Chinese pastries, and it is best fresh. Because it was late in the day, the proprietor piled food onto us so as to get rid of it. It is tricky ordering food unless you speak Mandarin or Cantonese, but pointy talky works well enough to get you fed. There is no esthetic to speak of as it is simply a shop that makes and sells dumplings. They are not interested in you staying to eat or hanging out. All in all very good. I especially liked their chive dumplings, which had more pork than I am used to in the dish. Also, the shu mai was especially tasty. For an added flair go to the shop next door and buy some char...

You can find Chinatown in every big city around the world. But I would say San Francisco's is much more authentic than others. When I saw this place, the few tourists were there only to buy some dumplings. But I was really hungry, and I have to say it is really incredible how tasty and good are the other dishes they have over there. I don't know the names, just pointed my finger to some options of pork, chicken and vegetables. Flavours were unbelievable, like never before. I thought I knew what was Chinese food, but of course this is impossible to someone who has never visited China. I now consider this was my first true experience tasting Chinese food. For me, San Francisco's Chinatown is...

This place is for the poor & fixed income seniors, and those on disability SSI so youll see some mental cases eating here. Think of it as the local cafeteria. Price & quality are minimal. $10= rice plus 3 items from the steam table buffet. They speak 1% or 0% English. I tried the dimsums and they were even lower quality than GOOD MONGKOK up the block (line out the door w/ clueless tourists). Thus, stick with the rice+3, its fresh but minimal quality for $10. Note: its like a bread line in soviet moscow, people will be elbowing you & cutting u off just to get served first. These Chinese immigrants suffered under Mao’s communist conditions so thats just how they...
