I understand that it’s a first world problem, but even with our diverse food choices in the Bay Area, I have been complacent and bored of food lately. After eating at Zitouna, the flavors of their food have awakened my taste buds once again. Even though I am familiar with Mediterranean dishes, I had noticed on their menu that there were many things on there that I have not seen or tried before. My goodness, the food was delightful! My family ordered the familiar dishes such as Chicken and Beef/Lamb Shawarma Plates, and Baba Ganoush/Hummus. The items we tried for the first time was the Hooriya-a spiced carrot puree dip that comes with pita bread, Brik Fiselle-Potato and cheese wrapped egg roll, and Mujadra-spiced rice and lentils with fried onions and came with taziki sauce and pickles. There was not a dish we could have gone without. What’s even more telling of this place, is that I have 3 little ones that tend to be picky eaters-tried and found themselves enjoying the food as well. Though they are in their soft opening phase, there is such a welcoming atmosphere. I found out through the owner that he used to work at Mezze and Mooore in the Mission and since then, he and his wife branched out on their own and opened this restaurant with more Tunisian influence, where the owner is from. Zitouna is such a refreshing addition to SF, in particular, the Outer Richmond area. I even found myself ordering take out from here this evening, the food travels well, and...
Read moreZitouna: A Delightful Culinary Gem with Exceptional Value! My husband and I recently had the pleasure of dining at Zitouna, and from the moment we stepped through the door, we felt incredibly welcome and genuinely doted upon. The warmth and attentiveness of the staff created an inviting atmosphere that truly made our experience special. The bright and airy environment itself was wonderfully pleasant. It provided the perfect backdrop for a relaxing and enjoyable meal. And the food! Every dish we tried was absolutely delicious, prepared with care and bursting with flavor. What truly sets Zitouna apart, especially in today's economic climate, is its remarkably reasonable pricing. It's a rare treat to find such high quality, delightful service, and a charming ambiance at a cost that makes frequent visits not just possible, but highly anticipated. We left Zitouna feeling not only satisfied but genuinely impressed. We wholeheartedly recommend this establishment and eagerly anticipate becoming...
Read moreWe visited Zitouna this Labor Day for dinner. It also seems the entire neighborhood had the same idea because the place was really busy with a long line, take-out’s, and reserved tables. On fairness, the crowd spilled from other venues that were closed due to the national holiday. The manager/cashier was very kind and accommodating to our party of 5 despite us not having a reservation. The manager helped secured a temp table before moving our party to a more comfortable one closer to the back. Food quality was good but because of how busy the kitchen and staff were, took some time to prepare and serve. Food portions were ok, but I wished a few more pieces of pita bread were offered upfront without having to ask for replenishment. The crowd inside made the place seem noisy; though we’ve managed to engage in conservations without difficulty hearing each other. I would return on a regular weeknight to try again without the large crowd inside. It was still a good...
