Blue Water Seafood and Crab — Restaurant in San Jose

First off I would like to say that this place hasn't always been as bad as this review will show it. But with that said it is on the decline.

To start off the Thursday Night myself and my date came to Blue Water Seafood and Crab. We got sat by another waiter (not ours) and told our waiter will be with us shortly. After about 5-8min of waiting a older gentlemen came over to our table and asked what are you having (those exact words). He didn't take the time to come to our table to have us order drinks but instead he just paced around the place.

We ended up ordering a Beer for me, Sprite for my date, Coconut shirmp app, muscles app, and a dozen blue point oysters. After our waiter came back with the beer with a side of lime I took the glass and it seemed to have some sort of red flakes and dirt all on the inside of the glass. So I asked for a new glass he came back with a new glass and put his fingers all over the rim of the glass. Like thats what I want to taste is his fingers after rubing his pockets and touching the PoS system. When our apps arrived the Coconut shrimp was 100% fine and tasty, the Muscles however was just drenched in garlic and half the shells weren't even open, and when the Oysters arrived mind you 50$ for 12 of them they weren't even the type of Oysters I ordered and half of them tasted extremely weird.

We still ended up ordering main entree's as well. I ordered the Soft Shell Crab entree, my date ordered Fish and Chips (Cod). When my entree arrived it was a couple handfuls of fries and the two smallest looking "crabs" I have ever seen. I know Soft Shell crabs are not the biggest in the world but this was ridiculous and to top it off they were burnt to high hell from the fryer. I asked the waiter if this is all I got for 45$ (I could have made this at home for 10$ with fresh crab). His response was let me check he then left. I tried my dates Fish and Chips and the Fish had 0 flavor the batter didn't taste like anything and again it was also burnt.

The waiter came back and his snotty response was its ONLY 40$ and he asked if I would like to speak to his manager. I responded "No that's ok". He again just left without listening to my response and went to say something to his manager. He then never came back to our table. My date ended up getting up to go pay for the dinner with my card to the manager and the managers response was. "O I was about to come over there and talk with you" in reality he wasn't going to it was clear he only said that to not look bad while she paid.

To summarize everything the Waiter was horrible. Didn't listen, was un sanitary, Rude, Snarky, and Uncaring. The food was below average, flavorless, and overpriced. The atmosphere was the best part of the night.

All and all we will not be returning. Would be one thing if it was just one thing but it was bad food and...

This restaurant as a venue is good. It has good seating inside and out. If you like a bar with big TV playing sports this place does have that for you. But if you are into good quality fresh food. This is not the place for you. I order three dishes. Butter garlic pasta as the side. The pasta was cold and the garlic was the preserved garlic from the jars. They could have at least took some butter and fried garlic in it with low heat to infuse the garlic flavor in some good butter and then toss some nice fresh boiled pasta in. Put some basic salt and pepper seasoning and then top with good quality parmesan. I was so sad to see a nice restaurant get such a basic dish wrong. Next came the shrimp coconut fried starter. Definitely frozen shrimp you get from Safeway or Walmart dipped in panko or bread crumb with some dried coconut in it then they gave the sweet thai chilly sauce you can again get at Walmart or Safeway. Nothing unique or of good quality. Then came fish and chips. The fries again seem to be those pre frozen potato cuts you buy bring home and fry. Again no freshly cut potatoes for the chips. Then the fish was so bland because it was frozen fish again that was dipped in some batter and deep fried. It was probably cod fish because it was frozen fish lot of the natural taste of fish meat is lost. As you can see this place every item there if they just used simple fresh ingredients and just put a little effort in executing the recipe right I would not have to write such a poor review. This restaurant needs a kitchen make over. The staff are nice and friendly. The place has good energy and it looks like a nice place to hang out with friends. I am sorry the recipe needs a complete revamp. I did not even bother trying the other dishes because the basics were just so poorly executed I didn't want to try the rest. How hard is it to get fish and chips or butter garlic pasta right? This place runs for it's venue and staff. If this place can get their food right. It has potential to become a very popular place to hang out. The menu but so big yet they can't execute. Focus on good quality ingredients and just put together dishes with them will...

First time here... and it will be the only time! Hi All, I hope your day is going well! My girlfriend and I were out for a drive yesterday (04/07/2024), saw this place, neither of us had been or heard anything about it, so we went in. Staff were very welcoming, I have to say that! Likely, though, because that was the only redemptive thing this place has going for it. We don't drink, but I got the feeling booze is the priority there, to get you liquored up so you don't notice how abysmally horrific the food is! Cocktail sauce from a shrimp cocktail burned my girlfriend's nose. Not from spice or temperature, more like something in it had gone bad. She got a filet mignon... $37... that she took one bite of and pushed it aside. I got a chicken sandwich that was hard... the chicken breast was rock hard. I could not bite through it, and I struggled to cut it with a knife. That much effort, I never even took one bite, so it was a complete waste of $20. The coffee was nothing but bitter water. No coffee flavor at all! Gas station coffee or coin-op dispenser coffee would have been lightyears better! She at least was able to eat her twice-baked potato, otherwise we would both have walked out with no additional food in our stomachs than we walked in with. The girl who served us was awesome, so normally I'd have tipped like 30%, but the food bill for filet mignon, a shrimp coctail, chicken sandwich, a ccocktail, a coffee was $80! This place is so extremely bad I can hardly believe it had a 4 star review. I would rate it lower than this 1 star review if I could! I don't generally have such a strong visceral response against a restaurant, but these people who own it are robbing you if you go here. I will be going out of my way to spread the negative word against Blue Water Seafood and Crab when anyone asks me about a seafood place. Truly truly, do not give these people your money.
