This is a delicious Mexican bakery with "THE" Best Tamales in San Jose. Expect to pay higher than anywhere else but for me, the tamale is rated by the Masa and these tamales are delicious. The Masa is moist and the tamales are packed. They are $3.20 each but well worth it as they are the biggest tamales I can find in San Jose. They have all the regular flavors-Chicken has a little hit spice--not much, Pork is spicy and they have cheese with Jalapeno which is good. -El Rico Pan Bakery is an awesome Mexican panaderia (bakery) that sells some huge & delish tamales, amongst other baked delicacies. -I love to eat tamales during the colder months & needed some last minute for Thanksgiving. -Luckily they were open. -Their tamales are HUGE & filled w/ great amount of chicken or pork. -They also had some queso (cheese) ones, but I didn't try them (yet). -For $3.20 a pop, they are a tad high, but totally worth the price due to the size of the tamale.
Overall, if you need some good tamales,...

The empanada de calabeza was perfectly spiced and the crust was awesome: not too sweet, but not bland, very tender but still sturdy enough for a generous helping of filling - and even after a day in the pantry wasn't dry at all. Yum!
I think they're cash only and no problems with language - speak Spanish or English and you'll get exactly what you want!
Will definitely return to try the tamales as they're getting raves from other...
