I haven’t gone back to Mizu for a few years, so going back for the 1st Time since my last visit was a BREATH of FRESH AIR. Mizu is a FANTASTIC Japanese Restaurant that CANNOT be missed, but can sometimes be OVERLOOKED. This past Saturday, my MAIN PURPOSE of my visit was a LATE Birthday Dinner w/ my family. Usually, in general, restaurants provide a Free Dessert (or a Free Meal) when your visit is during your Birth Month (or around your Birthday). Though my Birthday was is in April, as I mentioned, it was a LATE Birthday Dinner, & I can explain in 3 Words – My Brother’s Wife. (My Birthday is on April 14. TAX DAY is April 15. My Brother’s Wife works @ a Tax Firm, so until her work is complete, I CAN’T celebrate my Birthday w/ my Family (unless a SPECIAL Event happens like Holy Week). But that’s besides my point, anytime I go to Mizu, it is ALWAYS an experience to remember. 1 of my MOST FAVORITE Appetizers I enjoy is Agedashi Tofu, which is ALWAYS a Great Start to any Meal. The Veggie Tempura is Hot & made just right to compliment any meal, especially w/ slight modifications. Even their Fried Calamari Strips is like eating @ a SeaFood Restaurant. To end the meal, the Beef Teriyaki is cut proportionally. ALL of their Food is cooked very WONDERFULLY & presentable that ALSO makes each service tantalizing & an enjoyable experience. If you have a craving or hunger for Japanese Food, Mizu is a restaurant that CANNOT be missed! TRUST ME! They have SO MANY OPTIONS that it is hard to choose!!! ❤️😇

First off—are restaurants held to the same standard they were BEFORE COVID? Bc if the answer is yes, Mizu STILL deserves 5 stars. Have I been out for sushi for a better price? Yes. Have I been disappointed with Special Rolls that were MORE expensive? Also Yes. The fact of the matter is, even in these dark, COVID times, Mizu provided excellent service, a beautiful (and warm) ambiance with both delicious sushi. Saké? Warm and delicious. Miso? An on-the-house delight to preempt the smorgasbord that followed. The sushi: ranging from about 13-20$ per Special Roll, the chefs didn’t take any shortcuts in presentation, volume, OR quality. Delicious rolls, stuffed full with fish below a heaping pile of delicious fish, sauces, and crispies!! To die for! Get to know the servers too, each of them have incredible personalities and fun-loving demeanors—from the hostess, to the bus boy, to the waiter—ear to ear with smiles and affability. DONT WORRY, I HAVE EVIDENCE! Oh! One more thing! They treated the birthday boy like a King! GO HERE!—if you’re lucky, Luke will take care of you!😉

Mizu at the Winchester location is a great place to go for your Sushi fix. They have a variety of other items aside from the sushi such as bentos and hot dishes. The prices are bit higher then you would find at a lot of other places nearby by but you are paying for quality food and also just great picture food. We ended up getting takoyaki, super Godzilla roll, blossom roll, and the jumbo mizu roll. Mizu does off some lunch time pricing Mon-Sat where the prices range from 50 cents to 2 dollars off a decent selection of the menu. Mizu itself is very big and clean. The staff are constantly moving about to maintain the upkeep and keep up with your request if you need anything more. There is a decent amount of parking but it is shared with the nearby local shops. The restrooms are clean and I wouldn't be worried about that public restroom fear. Although the prices are a little high, if you have not been here then I highly recommend you give one of the most reviewed Sushi spots in San Jose a shot, enioy

Great lunch and dinner spot!! Especially for...HAPPY HOUR! My girlfriend and I suggested to sit by the bar area to catch their happy hour specials first before sitting at a nearby table. HH begins promptly 5pm-6:30pm during Sundays-Fridays excluding Saturdays.

The following HH food menu:

$3 appetizers: ikasansai (squid salad), gyoza dumplings, and agedashi tofu.

$3 Sushi rolls: spicy tuna, spicy salmon, salmon skin, shrimp tempura hand roll, and vegetarian hand roll.

$4 appetizers: shrimp tempura, tuna tataki, spicy tuna popper, and almond chicken.

After a couple of attempts and trying everything on the HH menu, your best choices are the ikasansai, agedashi tofu, tuna tataki, spicy tuna popper and almond chicken. The ikasansai is very appealing and tasteful for you squid lovers! Great to share with one other person before making any entree selections on their menu. The tuna tataki is fresh and impeccably delicious!

This is only for their HH food menu, but their HH cocktails are to die for!

The following HH cocktail menu:

-Buy one get one domestic beers -$4 large beers (selected) -1/2 price well cocktail drinks -$5 large hot sake

The best choice of cocktail is the Cherry Blossom since they mix it with Effen Black Cherry Vodka. You can taste the hint of cherry flavor in that cocktail! Yum-O! Other drink of choice is their Eastern Kiss. Mixed with the Ty-Ku liqueur. A lot like a marguerita or a lemon drop but an asian twist cocktail! Mmm...you'll definitely enjoy your drink!

As for their regular menu, love most of their items. Hard to pick and choose my most favorite but I'll cut it down to what's a good recommendation.

If you're interested starting off with something small before your entree, try their spicy tuna salad or their sweet potato fries. It's scrumptious!! Easy to share with one other person. Large plate and beautifully decorated.

Special rolls, cherry blossom, hot mango roll, honeymoon special and Ninja rolls!! All very enticing!! If you're not into seafood, they also have bulgogi dishes. I had to try it at least once, my goodness....indeed, sure made my...

We were eager to try a sushi restaurant that was rated so highly on YELP.  The sushi rolls and appetizers turned out to be average.  The rolls like Crazy Dragon had too many ingredients that all meshed together without a harmonious balance.  The Yellowtail Tartar was the favorite with fresh tasting fish and a hint of spiciness from the jalapeno.  The Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna was too crispy and dry.  The Bento Box with Salmon Teriyaki and Beef Teriyaki looked promising despite a 30 minute wait for it to come out.  The beef was too tough and the salmon didn’t taste fresh.   Aside from the mediocre food, the cleanliness of the restaurant was not up to par.  After drinking all the water, I noticed a white powdered film all around the rim of the glass. We had to flag down the waiter to complain. He was apologetic and offered us a complimentary dessert.  He seemed too busy to check up on us so service was less than average.  We also ordered a California Roll to go. As we exited the door, one of the members of the party mentioned that the hostess asked if he had paid for the item.  I immediately went back into the restaurant to let her know that she needed to polish up on her hostess and customer service skills.  She was obviously inexperienced by even asking such a question --- we had just paid for our main meals of rolls that weren’t exactly inexpensive--- why would we walk out without paying for a $5 item?  She offered a naïve explanation that she didn’t see the receipt at the desk.  I was patient enough to provide a 15 second training that signed credit card receipts may not immediately be taken to the hostess desk.   As a result of the lackluster food, dirty glass and poor service, I would have given this a one star but the waiter did try to remedy the dirty...
