My first time back in about 6 months and ALL THE RECIPES ARE SUDDENLY DIFFERENT. The injera is now sweet and super light in color, and no longer comes standard with the veggie combo. I miss their traditional dark injera made with brown teff that had a bit of earthy, sour flavor to it.

The veggie combo: The misir wot is tame, offers no heat, and not as spicy hot as I'm used to from this place. The kik alicha is surprisingly sweet and now lacks the punchy garlic/ ginger flavor it once had. (I really don't enjoy the sweetness at all.) The atakilt wot was OK... I did notice they finally started cutting the potatoes in that particular dish smaller, which I'm thankful for, but I miss the BIG flavor. (I might go so far as to describe it as filling, but bland.)

The doro alicha tibs had the best flavor, but the chicken pieces were smaller than a literal dime and it was mostly onion and oil.

What happened to my #1 Ethopian place?! Maybe I just miss a particular cook? They definitely changed the recipe of the 2 things I order regularly, and I no longer enjoy their veggie combo due to it's increased sweetness overall. I'm kinda sad, and will consider other Ethiopian restaurants because of the change in injera alone.

Friendly staff, BTW. Always...

Really nice people, even let us use the bathroom when we ordered to-go. Their shrimp doro derek and chicken doro tibs is bommmmb. This place probably has the best protein I’ve tasted from an Ethiopian restaurant. Their yellow split peas are delicious and you can taste the garlic and butter and they’re always cooked perfectly. I’ve never seen seafood offered at an Ethiopian restaurant so this place stands out and their shrimp is seasoned perfectly and just tastes amazing with the onions, tomatoes, and delicious flavors. The chicken too- it’s stir fried and taste literally like hibachi. I love this place because their food is good cold and hot. Their injera is perfect and also good cold/room temp. Their collard greens are a little bitter the last time I had them and their potatoes are big and can be underdone with the cabbage in the veggie combo. And I personally don’t like the dark lentils in the chili powder sauce But, what I love about this place is that they give you huuuuge portions! They’re not cheap and they don’t skim on things. I also love how they’re open late- so it’s my kind of place. Thanks for always providing yummy food and...

I’m glad I didn’t check the review before I went there. I randomly came here because we were nearby and needed to eat something quickly on our way. I probably would not have gone there if I read the previous reviews. I seriously do not understand why people are complaining about this restaurant. You can sense it’s a family run business so the owner is very relaxed and friendly. The decor is not five star style and can look almost sketchy from outside but As you walk around the corner to find the front door, you can already smell the delicious aroma, you know already they are going to have good food. Surely it didn’t disappoint. The salad was so fresh and delicious, the sandwich was extremely yummy and the lamb dish was absolutely excellent. Of course we were surprised by the kind of bread that goes with it, but this is the way how you are exposed to other ethnicity food, plus the bread tastes like sourdough, so we loved it. If someone wants Indian food or Chinese food, maybe you shouldn’t come to a Ethiopian restaurant. In terms of the food quality and taste, this is absolutely delicious. We...

This was my first time trying Ethiopian and the hype around it is well deserved. Went on a loong hike on Halloween and was craving mad food by the end of it. Looked up places accepting dine-ins and came across this sweet restaurant. Due to the pandemic, they had to restrict the number of tables but from what I recall, 3-4 parties can still eat simultaneously. The waitstaff was friendly and were patient enough to answer questions we had. Our food was brought out pretty quick. We got some Sambussas to start with. I got a glass of the honey wine, and my friends got the honey tea. The drinks were recommended by some other friends of ours and they were good! For entrees, we got the meat combo and a vegetarian combo. They both came with injeras on the side. It was a lot of food. So much that, three hungry hikers could not gobble up the food in front of them! I personally found the food very homelike. It tasted very similar to Indian food, which was very fascinating to me since the two countries are geographically so far apart. If I am ever craving homely food in DTSJ, I now know of one more spot!

This is a quiet restaurant in an industrial/residential area. I went for a late lunch and the place was empty. They were setting up for some private party on the other side of the restaurant. The service was extremely quick. I got a sambusa which is quite similar to the Indian Samosa in concept and looks, but taste very different. This one was filled with lentils, which I found to be little bit, dry for my taste. I also got the meat sampler, and it came with a huge injera and four types of meat. There stewed chicken lamb and beef and some dressed salad in the middle. Ethiopian food uses a lot of spices and it reminds me a bit of Indian curries. The bread was fermented and gave it a sour tang which I absolutely loved. The curries were delicious as well. The portion size was huge and was difficult to finish for one person. The ambience is very casual and barebones but I did not mind.
