I had the pleasure of visiting Suvai Restaurant in San Jose on their very first day of opening, and I must say – they’ve set the bar high from day one. I went for the buffet lunch, and it was outstanding both in flavor and variety.
The vegetarian options were top notch – the Veg Biryani stood out as one of the best I’ve had, perfectly spiced and aromatic. The spread also included crispy vadas, cauliflower manchurian, sambar, rasam, chutneys, salad, and a couple of flavorful veg curries. For the non-vegetarian side, the Chicken Biryani, Tandoori Chicken, Fish Curry, Butter Chicken, and Goat Curry were authentic, well-balanced, and delicious. To round it off, the Ras Malai dessert was the perfect sweet ending. They even served garlic bread along with the buffet – a nice surprise.
What impressed me most was not just the quality but also the value for the price. With so many items on the buffet, it’s rare to see this level of authenticity and variety. They also have a full à la carte menu with nearly 100 dishes, which I plan to try on my next visit.
The ambiance is high-class, modern, and welcoming, making it a great place to bring family. On top of that, the service was exceptional – attentive without being intrusive, and very hospitable.
On Saratoga Ave, there are only a handful of Indian restaurants worth mentioning, and Suvai has already earned its spot as a must-visit destination. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for authentic Indian food...
Read moreI was there today Friday during lunch time for the buffet. I can only speak for Veg options as that is what I had. They had Punugulu, Gobi 65, Veg fried rice, white rice, sambar, rasam, potato curry(s.indian) , kadai panneer, raita and Payasam. Food was generally ok. Gobi 65 was not good. Punugulu, Veg fried rice, Sambar were good. Rest of the stuff was average. There were around 4 or 5 tables occupied during lunch time. I felt service was ordinary. Not once any one came to the table to check on things. Neither any one bothered to ask if I wanted Naan. While walking out I saw another table where appalam was served. I did ask the manager how a customer is supposed to know what to ask for Naan or Appalam. How the heck would any one know these items were even on the buffet? Now to be fair, this is newly opened restaurant and they have a long way to go if they have to compete with Kovai or Mylapore which are standouts in the area. I initially was reluctant to write a review that was mostly negative but I had to do it because I got misled by 9 5 star reviews before I went there. I am still being generous with my rating. I will consider giving them another try after a few months hoping that...
Read moreWe had the pleasure of dining at this wonderful new South Indian(Dindigul and probably few other regional delicacies also on the menu) restaurant during its first week of opening, and it was an absolute delight from start to finish!
The hospitality was exceptional — warm, welcoming, and attentive.
The food was absolutely delicious — authentic South Indian flavors with great variety and attention to detail. Everything we tried was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented.
The ambience is vibrant and inviting, with plenty of seating and a spacious layout. It’s perfect for both small groups and larger gatherings. A big plus: there’s ample parking, which is always appreciated!
Located conveniently opposite Westgate Center in West San Jose, the restaurant is easy to find and access.
A special mention for the filter coffee — hands down one of the best we’ve had in the Bay Area! It was well-balanced, low in acidity, medium roast, and served in a style very reminiscent of a cappuccino — both in flavor and presentation. A perfect finish to a great meal!
Highly recommend checking this place out — we’ll definitely be...
