I'll start with what I didn't enjoy: 1 - Buffalo Chkn Sandwich - I didn't like the vegan chicken patty. I don't know if it was Gardein, Beyond, or what, pero no me gusta. The onion rings were good though.
2 - Alcapurria HP - I took one bite and abandoned ship.
3 - White rice sans sabor. (get the yellow rice instead)
I absolutely LOVED everything else. My MUST TRY list includes:
Empanadilla de Carne. Yes, it's filled with Impossible meat, but the way they flavor and cook it makes it phenomenal. I would prefer an accompanying sauce of some sort (even though it's delicious on its own). I ended up ordering their aioli for it.
Relleno de Papa. A deep fried mashed potato ball with a little criollo-style "beef" in the middle (also using Impossible meat). The meat is very subtle in this one though, which I prefer, so it's perfect.
La Mixta HP. This is what you want! A traditional PR dish veganized. It's Bistec Encebollado (think onion sautéed steak bites) with white rice and red beans (which I subbed for arroz y gandules), salad, avocado, y tostones. The flavors were exquisite!
Birria Tacos. Only available on Taco Tuesdays. Theirs has the best seasoned tortilla shell that I've ever had.
I also tried a cake and ice cream dessert. The cake was ok (a little dense), but that ice cream and caramel sauce slapped!
Amazing artwork. Service was ok; not bad, but not brag-worthy either. No...
Read moreI came across the spot just walking by. Aesthetically, I was impressed at the decor, it's artsy and spacious and every space is used well. The place seemed well kept and organized with seating spread across the lofty space.
Let's talk about the Service, Presentation and food. Service was ok. I was received right away (a total of 2 tables at the time) and the order took about 15 minutes. Not bad at all.
The visited the place last week. I had a Maui Burger. On a scale 1-5, I would give it a 2. The presentation was ok, the taste did not WOW me. And, i say that because I expected a little flavor, or maybe a special sauce. I also, I ordered a natural juice to go, but could not complete the order because there were no to go cups.
The second time, I visited this spot was today for lunch. I ordered a empanadilla de 'carne'. Positives: Flavorful, good packaging. Negatives: The "meat" was not crumbled and when I bit into it i just looked like a sausage shape piece of "meat"... Frankly, just made me not want to desire it. Also, no sauce was added to the empanadilla. Food for thought -- Anywhere you go in PR they offer sauces (no additional cost) ...

Read moreEdit: Thank you for providing the refund. I would like to apologize to the owner. I am sorry. For clarity, it wasn't about the money, it was more about the fact we became very passionate and emotional about your business and when we needed help it didn't seem to care about our patronage. It bothers me to get to this point because I did not want to leave a negative review after the overwhelming positive experiences we shared with the staff there. I am a big believer in supporting the community and embracing the PR/vegan culture so I do not take pride in having to leave a review like this in order to get further assistance. Ultimately we are very grateful that you've given us an experience we wouldn't have had otherwise.
Wouldn’t go back just out of the sheer lack of respect from the owner. Cares more about money than showing compassion to patrons that were openly supporting the restaurant consistently (we were regulars for about a week). If you’re planning on going here, I’d be careful to trust the owner if he recommends or encourages you to buy the pasteles/alcapurria frozen. If you end up having an issue with them, it’s an “all sales are final” attitude which was very different from the warm compassion that we were greeted...
