Fist thing these online photos are deceiving. Our room or the facility looks nothing like what is advertised on the website. We'll show you pictures of the furniture in the room and the dirty vents which caused me to sneeze evertime they came on. The smell was so awful and musty.
Secondly-we paid for our stay in full, prior to our visit or so we thought. We were charged an extra $43 per day for service fee. We were given 1 bottle of complimentary water upon arrival. That's it. If you are renting a car, good luck! There is no parking and the place is congested so you may not find one. But don't worry, the hotel will valet your car for you for an additional $25 per day. Not only that, we finally gave in for valet to park the car. The following day we went to get to our car, they said they have no record of us leaving a rental car with them. We argued for about 3 minutes, I was forced to go upstairs to go get my receipt from when I paid. The woman didn't look good enough but was ready to dismiss us because they couldn't find our keys.
The location is OK because there are plenty of restaurants and food to eat around the place within walking distance.
Day 2- upon returning from an event we went to the front desk to ask for water, we were told no we only get the one bottle when we arrive. I offered to pay for it and the rude girl at the front said she doesn't know how much they are and she needed to stock up because she doesn't have any in the refrigerator right now. We were forced to buy $8 bottles of water from their restaurant on site. So $16 for 2 bottles of water. Don't look for any courtesy here, our flight was delayed for hours and we asked to extend check out for an hour and even offered to pay extra. They said it was impossible. Even though check out is 12pm and check in is at 4. But whatever, it worked out. We checked out and went to the movies. I will NEVER EVER BOOK THIS HOTEL OR ANY OTHER CHOICE HOTELS EVER AGAIN. I've been to resorts in other countries and water is the least. We were stocked up on Alcohol and every other beverage you can think of for free. This pace nickel and dime you and their place is dark and dingy. Not...
Read moreI want to preface this review with a huge KUDOS to the staff. Everyone that we encountered was very sweet and accommodating! They kindly stored our luggage while we waited for a room and greeted us with a smile and a hello every time we walked in. We originally chose this hotel to be close to friends who were nearby, otherwise I would have stayed away from any place that had the word “boutique” in the title. That usually means it’s a little more “weathered”. But the pictures looked cute online and we only needed a room for one night after our cruise ended.
However, while the room was “updated”, it’s clear it’s a beach city hotel with a lot of weathering on the surfaces, etc. But what we were most upset about was the overall cleanliness of the room. There was hair on the wall of the shower, some sort of sticky goop on the floor next to the bed, the desk was dirty, and there were boogers or something on the wall. It just looked like it could use a deep clean.
The room we were in was right across from the employee lounge, so it was very loud the whole time. The elevators are pretty janky. And there were noises all night long in the walls, etc. You can hear every toilet flush:) Plus, we had no hot water in our shower (only lukewarm), but we were too tired to worry about it and just showered quick. And there is some weird flooding that happens every morning at the entrance to the hotel on the street-our driver said it was the lagoon overfilling and a problem with no proper drainage system. So you had to tromp through water in the streets if you walked anywhere.
Lastly, I didn’t pay less than what I could have at the Holiday Inn next door. So my suggestion is unless you get a killer deal, look at one of the other more non-boutique hotels that are all so close in the...
Read moreMy wife, baby and I stayed at Abitta Boutique Hotel in February and booked the hotel because of the location to the beach, shops and restaurants. When we arrived, we were told our room was not ready and we should come back in an hour or two. This was just the beginning of our negative experience with the hotel.
When we were actually able to check in, our baby was exhausted and cranky so we focused on getting him to sleep. After he was sleeping, we attempted to shower. The problem is that there was no hot water in the room. We contacted the front desk and he sent someone up to attempt and fix the issue. Within 30 minutes a repairman did show up but he was unable to fix the issue.
We did not want to wake our sleeping baby so I took a cold shower and my wife skipped one. When I removed my socks, I discovered that the bottoms of the socks were completely covered in some kind of grease and debris. My wife and I were disgusted and called the front desk again. They confirmed that the room had been cleaned and there were no other rooms available.
When we checked out, I was told that since I booked the hotel through a third party, I would need to contact them for a refund. Upon arriving home, I spoke with the booking agency and they could not get in touch with anyone at the hotel. I have since called back 4 separate times in attempt to resolve the issue but the hotel will not pick up the phone (through the number listed through Google or the private number from the booking agency).
I have stayed at hundreds of hotels over the last 20 years and I have never experienced such a lack of responsibility and disregard for customer concerns (and from a $200+ a night hotel no less). If you want to avoid these kind of problems, there are many other hotels in...
