Recently, I was able to visit & experience great art & design. It's a small, cozy museum that you can appreciate everything even the architecture from the structure without becoming overwhelmed. It is important to highlight that even the staff were warm & excellent. However, I visited first thing in the morning & there weren't many people and thus, the security detail didn't make us feel welcome. Rather than being subtle in her duties, she was rather stalkerish & judgemental as if we were going to do something inappropriate. I recognize me & the person I went with are both college student & we might look young. However, we both have arts background & have a huge appreciation for art and didn't need to feel that the security detail didn't trust us being there. The museum itself has a beautiful facade and it's right next to La Hacienda Meat Center, which we got a lot of recommendations to go to as well. To enter it was $6 but they only accepted American express as far as credit cards go (so have some cash). The design rooms give a good description and idea of Puerto Rican design in the 50s.
The whole museum shouldn't take more than 30 minutes and it's about a 15 minute walk to Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Puerto Rico. Not sure if there was parking but we ended up finding street parking...
